One team for the whole range of crafted finishes, from Venetian plaster and cornice to murals, mosaics and gilding. Our own installers travel from Birmingham to Glasgow.
Zavoré works as decorative specialists in Glasgow for homeowners, designers, architects and contractors, installing the whole range of crafted wall and ceiling finishes in one place. That means Venetian plaster, polished plaster, marmorino, limewash, tadelakt, microcement, clay plaster, concrete effect and liquid metal, alongside bas relief, murals, mosaics, cornice and coving, gilding and lacquered walls. We are based in Birmingham, and our own team travels to Glasgow. See all of our installations, or start with a sample board.
Glasgow is a long way from Birmingham, so jobs here are planned in blocks of days, with the team staying on site and working through each craft in order.
Glasgow is a city of contrasts, and so is its decorative work. The sandstone tenements of the West End, the Southside and the East End have tall rooms with cornice, ceiling roses and panelled doors. The city also has a strong tradition of decorative design, from the Victorian period through the Glasgow Style associated with Charles Rennie Mackintosh. In that tradition a wall, a ceiling or a close is a place for craft, not just paint.
Then there is the other Glasgow. Merchant City warehouses, Finnieston bars and restaurants, Clydeside apartments and the newer developments at Glasgow Harbour and Pacific Quay are flat, modern and plain. They suit different crafts, and many projects combine several. One survey can cover a plaster feature wall, a hand painted mural and a gilded detail, and we price them together.
What links the two is the base. Stone and old lime plaster want breathable finishes. Plasterboard needs its joints reinforced and the right primer. A wall that moves needs another answer, and a wall that is damp needs the damp fixed first. We say so plainly at the survey.
Everything below is installed by our own team. See the full list on our installations page.
A few honest points. Venetian plaster is not for the inside of a shower, and tadelakt or microcement on a properly prepared, waterproofed wall is. Polished finishes show every dip, so the wall must be flat. Lime breathes and suits solid sandstone walls, while acrylic forms a film.
Specifiers can start on our specification page, which explains how we work with designers and architects. We supply samples and finish details, and plan the work around other trades, so a fit out for a Glasgow hotel, bar or restaurant is programmed with the main contractor and the doors open when they are meant to. Commercial work is chosen to stand up to heavy daily use. For firms laying finishes themselves, we hold trade accounts.
Several crafts in one wall is something we plan often. A mosaic splashback beside a lacquered panel, or relief set into a plaster wall, is easier when one team plans it. Our feature walls page shows how that works.
We survey first, either on site or from photographs. We check what the walls are made of, how flat and sound they are, damp and movement, how the space is used, access and protection. In a tenement, that includes the common stair. For plaster we agree finish and colour on a sample board before we start, and the material is tinted to the approved sample before it leaves Birmingham. For murals, relief and mosaics we work from a scaled drawing you approve.
Colour comes in 48 house colours or any NCS reference. Cold, damp rooms slow drying, so a heated room matters. Because Glasgow is far from Birmingham, dates are agreed once the sample and price are signed off, and the work is organised as a block of days.
If your own decorator will lay the finish, our shop sells plasters, primers, waxes and tools with tracked delivery to Glasgow. Venetian plaster courses run in London, Birmingham and Manchester, and you can read about them on our training page. Some crafts, like a mural or a gilded ceiling, are better left to specialists, and we will say so.
Every finish and craft we offer is on our decorative finishes page. We also have decorative finishes specialist pages for London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Kent, Surrey, Essex and Nottingham.
Each finish has its own page for Glasgow. Read about polished plaster in Glasgow, marmorino in Glasgow, limewash in Glasgow and clay plaster in Glasgow for living spaces, tadelakt in Glasgow and microcement in Glasgow for bathrooms, and concrete effect plaster in Glasgow and liquid metal in Glasgow for modern interiors. The classic lime work is covered in Venetian plastering in Glasgow.

Cornice, coving, ceiling roses and panel mouldings are fitted, matched and restored. We look at the original at the survey and tell you honestly what can be saved, matched or replaced.
