Venetian plaster, limewash, tadelakt, murals, gilding, cornice and more, installed by one team that travels from Birmingham to Nottingham.
Decorative specialists in Nottingham is what we are for. Zavoré supplies and installs Venetian plaster and a long list of other decorative wall finishes and crafts, with our own team. We are based in Birmingham and our own applicators travel to Nottingham for the work, so a scheme that mixes plaster, relief, gilding and murals stays with one team from survey to handover. This page is for homeowners, designers, architects and contractors, and the easiest way to start is to send photos of the space and your postcode.
Nottingham gives a decorator an unusually wide range of rooms. Castle Gate and Low Pavement have Georgian townhouses, and the Park Estate and Mapperley Park have Victorian villas with ornate ceilings and grand staircases. The Lace Market is red brick warehouse, now flats, offices, bars and restaurants. Hockley adds independent venues and creative businesses, and there are newer apartments by the canal and the Trent.
Under the city lies soft sandstone, and many older buildings have cellars cut into it. Each building type calls for a different finish. A solid walled villa wants breathable lime. A new plasterboard apartment wants a flat, reinforced and properly primed wall. A cellar bar needs any damp dealt with before anything else goes on.
These are the main finishes, each with its own page.
Venetian plaster is not what we recommend inside showers. Tadelakt or microcement on a properly prepared, waterproofed wall is the answer there, and polished finishes show every dip, so walls must be flat.
A Nottingham room often needs more than a wall finish. We also install these.
In a Georgian or Victorian house, cornice, ceiling roses and panel mouldings matter as much as the wall, and matching a missing section is a craft in itself. Gilding suits mirrors, mouldings and signs. A mural suits a stair hall or a dining room.
We supply samples and finish details for specifications and plan the work around other trades. Designers and architects can start on the Specify Zavoré page. For restaurants, hotels, bars, offices and shops, the programme is planned so the doors stay open, with finishes chosen to stand up to heavy daily use.
Many projects combine several crafts, and we survey and price them together, so a scheme is not split between trades who have never met. Plaster is approved against real samples. Murals, relief and mosaics are approved against a scaled drawing before we start.
We survey first. That means what the walls are made of, how flat and sound they are, any damp or movement, how the room is used, and access and protection. You get an honest recommendation, a sample proposal and one clear price. Small questions can often be answered from photos. If a wall needs skimming, stripping or a damp problem fixing first, we say so.
Colour is agreed on a sample board before work begins, and plaster is tinted to the approved sample before it leaves Birmingham. Venetian plaster comes in 48 house colours or any NCS reference. Our applicators travel from Birmingham, and a Nottingham job is planned in blocks of days so the team stays on site and works in order. Dates are agreed once the sample and price are signed off. The full list of services is on the installations page.
Some projects only need the material. The shop sells our finishes with tracked delivery across the UK, and the trade account is there for decorators and contractors who buy regularly. Venetian plaster courses run in London, Birmingham and Manchester, and you can read about them on the training page.
Every finish and craft we offer is on our decorative finishes page. We also have decorative finishes specialist pages for London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow, Kent, Surrey and Essex.
Each finish has its own page for Nottingham. For burnished walls see polished plaster in Nottingham and marmorino in Nottingham.
