Plaster, lime, relief, gilding and murals installed by our own team, planned around the way London homes and buildings are actually built.
Looking for decorative specialists in London? Zavoré supplies and installs authentic Italian lime based Venetian plaster and a wider range of decorative finishes and crafts, from limewash and tadelakt to cornice, gilding, lacquered walls, mosaics and hand painted murals. We have a showroom and training centre in London, open by appointment, and our own applicators install across the city, so one team can look after the plaster, the relief and the gilt in the same house. The easiest way to begin is a sample board, followed by a survey.
This page is for homeowners, interior designers, architects and contractors who want to know what a London decorative job can include and how it is run. Each finish also has its own London page, linked further down.
London is a city of very different rooms. A Georgian terrace has tall hallways, panelled doors and plaster ceilings. A Victorian or Edwardian terrace has bay windows, chimney breasts and alcoves in almost every room. A mansion block has generous ceilings and long corridors. A mews house is small and dense. A warehouse conversion has bare brick and big flat walls, and a new tower apartment has clean plasterboard and very little character until someone gives it some.
Each of those asks for something different. Period rooms often want cornice and coving repaired or added, breathable lime on solid walls and a quiet palette. Flat walls in new apartments take polished plaster or concrete effect well. A client who wants a statement can look at a hand painted mural, a gilded detail or a lacquered wall. The point of having one team is that these choices can be made together rather than trade by trade.
Our full range is on the decorative installations page. These are the ones London clients ask about most.
We survey first. That means the walls, ceilings and floors, how the room is used, how we get in and how the space is protected while we work. London access is often the real puzzle, with stairs, lifts, shared hallways and limited parking, so we ask about it early. Small questions can often be answered from photos before anyone visits.
Next comes a sample, and we agree colour and finish on that before pricing the install. Material is tinted before it leaves Birmingham, in our 48 house colours or any NCS reference. Larger jobs are planned in blocks of days. The team stays on the job and lays each coat in order, and dates are agreed once the sample and price are signed off.
Where a project involves several crafts, we plan the order of work so wet trades finish before delicate ones begin. Our installation service covers all of it.
If you are specifying for a client, our page for designers and architects sets out what we need from a drawing and what we can offer on samples. Contractors can ask about a trade account, and our colour page explains how we match an NCS reference. If your own decorator will do the work, see our Venetian plaster supplier page for London, or the shop, which sells every material with tracked delivery across the UK.
Every finish and craft we offer is on our decorative finishes page. We also have decorative finishes specialist pages for Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow, Kent, Surrey, Essex and Nottingham.
Each finish has its own London page. See Venetian plastering in London for the classic, then polished plaster in London for high shine, marmorino in London for a calmer stone grain, limewash in London for older brick and lime walls and clay plaster in London for the soft matt look. For wet rooms there is tadelakt in London and microcement in London. For modern and dramatic spaces see concrete effect plaster in London and liquid metal in London.
No. Venetian plaster is where we started, but we also install limewash, tadelakt, microcement, clay plaster, concrete effect, liquid metal, cornice and coving, gilding, lacquered walls, mosaics, murals, bas relief, sculptural plaster and artificial rock.
Yes. We plan around your programme and tell you what the walls need before we arrive, so plastering, joinery and decorating follow each other in a sensible order. Trade accounts are available.
Often that gives the most settled result. A polished plaster hallway, a limewashed bedroom and a tadelakt shower can sit together if the palette is planned. We would suggest agreeing the colours on samples first.
Yes, cornice and coving is part of our installation range and suits the high ceilings of many London terraces and mansion blocks. We survey the ceiling first and tell you honestly what it needs.
