Microcement in London

Seamless floors, walls and wet rooms laid by our own team, with the preparation that old London floors and tiled bathrooms need done first.

Microcement in London means a thin, seamless coating over floors, walls and bathrooms with no grout lines and no joints. Zavoré installs it with our own team, who travel from our Birmingham base, and we also sell the lime based seamless finishes Pastellone and Beton Stucco with tracked UK delivery. The first step is a sample board, then a conversation about the floor underneath, because that decides the job.

Timber floors, screeds and tiles in London homes

Seamless work is decided by what is below it. London homes give us three common starting points.

Victorian and Georgian houses usually have suspended timber floors on joists. Those can flex, and a rigid surface will crack if the floor moves, however good the material is. A timber floor has to be stiffened and boarded properly first. Flats and extensions often have a screed, and a screed must be dry all the way through, not only on top. Many London bathrooms are already tiled, and microcement can often go over sound tiles that have been degreased, keyed and reinforced, with drummy tiles lifted and made good.

Warehouse conversions in places like Shoreditch and Bermondsey tend to have solid concrete floors, which suit a seamless finish well. In every case we survey before pricing and say plainly if the base needs work first.

Where microcement works in London

People choose our microcement finishes for rooms where joints are a nuisance.

  • Bathrooms and wet rooms, running from floor to wall to shower as one surface.
  • Open plan ground floors and kitchen extensions with no thresholds.
  • Shower benches, niches and reveals.
  • Kitchen worktops and splashbacks.
  • Stair treads and landings.
  • Shops, offices and restaurants that need to look calm.

A small London bathroom can look larger without grout lines breaking up the walls. The surface is sealed, and the sealer is what makes it waterproof and washable. The wall or floor must still be tanked properly, exactly as it would be under tile.

How a microcement job in London runs

The survey looks at the floor structure, the screed or boards, existing tiles, movement joints and access. A seamless floor is laid wet in one go, so we plan protection and access with care, especially up flights of stairs in a terrace or through a shared hallway in a block of flats.

We agree colour and sheen on a sample board before work begins. Greys, greiges, warm stones and off blacks are the usual choices, and the finish carries a gentle cloudy movement. Material is tinted before it leaves Birmingham. Because London is some way from Birmingham, the job is planned in blocks of days and our team stays to lay each stage in order. Details are on the microcement installation page.

Buying lime based seamless materials

If you want to buy for your own decorator, the shop lists Pastellone, which gives a seamless lime and marble floor and wall finish, and Beton Stucco, a concrete look wall finish, along with primer, matt wax and sealer. For a floor or a bathroom we would ask you to leave it to us, because the preparation matters more than the product. Trade customers can ask about a trade account.

Questions about microcement in London

Can microcement go over the tiles in a London bathroom?

Usually yes, if the tiles are firmly stuck, degreased and keyed. Loose or drummy tiles are lifted and made good first, and the grout lines are filled and reinforced so they do not show through later.

Will microcement crack on the floorboards of a Victorian house?

It can if the floor flexes. A springy timber floor needs to be stiffened and boarded before a rigid surface goes on. We look at the joists and boards at the survey.

Do you sell microcement in London, or only install it?

We install microcement with our own team. For people buying materials we sell lime based seamless finishes, Pastellone for floors and walls and Beton Stucco for walls, with tracked delivery across the UK.

Is microcement waterproof in a London wet room?

The sealer makes the surface waterproof and washable, but the structure behind it still has to be tanked properly. Without that, the finish alone is not a waterproofing system.

Send a photo of the floor or bathroom and we will tell you what the base needs. Call 07592 929191 (Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm) or email sales@zavore.co.uk with photos, rough measurements and your postcode. You can also order a sample board and start from there.
