Where Artistry Begins
Venetian plaster, limewash, tadelakt, murals, gilding and more, supplied and installed by our own team from our Birmingham base.
Decorative specialists in Birmingham is what we are, because Zavoré is based here. We supply and install authentic Italian lime Venetian plaster and a wide range of other decorative finishes and crafts, and our own applicators work from our Birmingham base, in this city and across the UK. The place to start is a sample board or a survey of the wall.
This page is for homeowners, designers, architects and contractors who are not yet sure which finish or craft they need. Tell us the room and the problem, and we will say honestly what suits.
Birmingham is a city of very different buildings. There is red brick Victorian and Edwardian housing in Moseley, Edgbaston, Harborne and Kings Heath, the cottages and gardens of Bournville, 1930s semis in places like Sutton Coldfield, and warehouse and factory conversions in Digbeth and the Jewellery Quarter. The city centre adds newer apartment blocks and hotel interiors.
Each of those asks for something different from a wall. Solid brick and lime plaster in old houses suit breathable lime finishes. Tall hallways and formal rooms suit a burnished wall, as long as it is flat. Converted warehouses suit a calm mineral concrete look. Bathrooms need something that survives water.
Cornice and coving are a natural fit for the Victorian and Edwardian rooms of the city, and a feature ceiling or a gilded detail can lift a hotel or restaurant interior.
These are the finishes and crafts we install, with a page on each.
Our full list is on the decorative wall finishes installation page, and you can see the shades on the colours page.
Every job begins with a survey. We look at the substrate, flatness, cracks, damp, movement, how the room is used, access and protection. Small questions can often be answered from photos. We say plainly if a wall needs skimming, stripping or a damp problem fixing first.
The sample board comes next. Venetian plaster comes in 48 house colours or any NCS reference, and every material is tinted to the colour on the approved sample before it leaves Birmingham. Dates are agreed once the sample and price are signed off.
Because our applicators are based here, a Birmingham job does not need the planned block of days away that a distant job does. Mixed jobs are easier too, since one team can plan a hallway in polished plaster and a bathroom in tadelakt together.
We work with designers, architects, contractors and developers, and the specification page for them is specify Zavoré. Trade accounts are available on the trade page.
If you have your own decorator, we also sell the materials with tracked UK delivery from the shop. We run Venetian plaster courses in Birmingham, London and Manchester, listed on the training page. Send photos, rough measurements and the postcode to start the conversation.
Every finish and craft we offer is on our decorative finishes page. We also have decorative finishes specialist pages for London, Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow, Kent, Surrey, Essex and Nottingham.
The finishes have their own Birmingham pages. For lime and marble walls see polished plaster in Birmingham and marmorino in Birmingham. For soft mineral walls see limewash in Birmingham and clay plaster in Birmingham.

It depends on the room. Solid walls suit lime finishes such as limewash, marmorino and clay plaster. A hallway can take polished plaster if it is flat, and cornice suits the period detail.
