Breathable lime Venetian plaster, Marmorino and limewash for a spa town of period houses, tinted in Birmingham and laid by our own applicators.
Zavoré offers Venetian plastering in Tunbridge Wells for period homes, apartments, shops and restaurants. We supply authentic Italian lime based Venetian plaster, Marmorino, limewash, polished plaster and a full range of decorative finishes, and our own applicators travel from Birmingham to install them. If you are just starting to think about colour, order a sample board, and if you have a room in mind, email us a few photos.
Jobs in Tunbridge Wells are planned in a block of days. The applicators remain on site from first coat to last, which keeps the work moving at the pace the plaster needs.
Royal Tunbridge Wells grew up around a spring of iron rich water discovered in the early seventeenth century. Visitors came to take the waters, and the colonnaded Pantiles and the Georgian houses climbing the slopes of Mount Sion still recall those spa days.
In the early nineteenth century the town expanded with elegant Regency developments, the best known being Calverley Park and Calverley Park Crescent, designed by Decimus Burton, with pale stucco villas set around parkland. Victorian growth followed, bringing large villas around the Common and terraces closer to the station and the town centre. Much of the central town sits within conservation areas, and listed buildings are common.
Around the town, the High Weald brings sandstone outcrops, tile hung and weatherboarded cottages, and neighbouring places such as Rusthall and Southborough. Many houses here have lime plastered solid walls, generous ceilings and original cornices, and those details shape the finish we would suggest.
For older houses, our guide to lime or acrylic Venetian plaster explains why the choice matters, and plaster ceiling roses covers another period detail.
Email photos of the rooms, rough sizes and your postcode, and we will answer early questions from the pictures where we can. Before we price an installation, we survey the walls, taking note of the substrate, cracks, damp, movement, flatness, how the rooms are used, and what access and protection a period interior needs. If old paint needs stripping, a wall needs a skim or damp has to be sorted first, we will say so plainly.
After you approve a sample and price, we fix your dates. The plaster is tinted to that sample in Birmingham before it sets off. Please make sure building work is finished and dry, and if possible keep the heating on gently, as older houses can be cool and that slows drying. In the town centre, parking is limited, so mention any permits or access arrangements when we plan the job. For the wider county, see Venetian plaster in Kent.
