Zavoré offers Venetian plastering in Preston for houses, flats, offices, restaurants and shops. Our base is in Birmingham, we supply authentic Italian lime based Venetian plaster and other decorative finishes, and our own applicators travel to install them. Preston calls for a planned trip, so we organise installs in blocks of days. The applicators stay for the duration of the work and lay each coat in sequence, with dates agreed once your sample and price are signed off.
Preston is a Lancashire city with a long industrial past on the River Ribble, and its buildings record several periods. The centre has the neoclassical Harris Museum overlooking the Flag Market, the Victorian Miller Arcade, and the listed concrete bulk of the bus station. Winckley Square is the city’s Georgian set piece, with merchants’ houses that are now largely offices, restaurants and professional rooms.
Surrounding the centre are Victorian cotton town terraces in brick, and the Avenham and Miller Parks have Victorian houses along their edges. Fulwood to the north has Victorian and Edwardian villas and interwar semis. South of the river, Penwortham has later suburban housing, and the former docks to the west have been redeveloped around a marina with modern apartments. Newer estates spread across the city’s edges.
For a plasterer, that means three kinds of surface. Georgian and Victorian solid brick that must breathe, large commercial rooms with tall ceilings, and newer plasterboard apartments with flat, regular walls. A student let near the university needs something different again, since toughness and easy repair outweigh a deep sheen.
In kitchens and bathrooms, microcement on a prepared surface is a practical option, and tadelakt suits showers. We do not recommend Venetian plaster inside a shower.
It starts with photos, rough measurements and the postcode. Many small questions can be answered that way. For a price, we survey the substrate, flatness, cracks, damp and movement, how the room is used, plus access and protection. If a wall needs skimming, stripping or a damp problem solved first, we tell you plainly.
Once the sample and price are approved, we agree dates. Your plaster is tinted in Birmingham to match the sample. The coats are thin and need time between them, so keep the room clear of other trades and let the heating run gently if the weather is cold.
