Venetian Plastering Training for Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland does not host a Zavoré course, so Venetian plastering training in Northern Ireland means studying at the Zavoré Academy in Birmingham. Students from across the six counties, from the Antrim coast to Fermanagh, can book a seat and travel over.

Whether you run a decorating firm, work as a plasterer, build and renovate homes, design interiors or want to change career, the training starts at the beginning and leaves you with finished work to show.

Where Venetian plaster fits in Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland has a rich mix of buildings, and the demand for beautiful interiors does not stop at Belfast.

Across the country you will find Victorian terraces in the towns, Georgian houses in the older cities, linen mill buildings, farmhouses with thick stone walls, and country houses set in large grounds. Solid, old walls like these do best with breathable lime based plasters and Marmorino, which suit the building and give the room a quiet depth.

Newer parts of the country, including city centre apartments, offices and housing developments, have flat modern walls that are ideal for polished plaster, and metallic finishes where a dramatic look is wanted.

Tourism matters here, from the Causeway Coast to the Mournes and the Fermanagh lakelands. Hotels, guest houses, restaurants and holiday lets all want interiors that people remember, and hand applied plaster supplies exactly that. Bathrooms and spa areas can use tadelakt or microcement to create seamless, water resistant surfaces.

A trained decorator or plasterer working in a town or rural area can use this skill to stand out in a local market, without needing to base the business in a city.

Travelling from Northern Ireland to Birmingham

The journey involves leaving Northern Ireland and reaching Birmingham, which is central in England, by train or by car once you are across. Choose whichever route and timing suits your own location.

A course of three or four days needs somewhere to sleep. Zavoré keeps a partner rate at a hotel near the Academy, and you quote Zavoré when you reserve a room. Pickup from the airport or station can be requested with your booking, at a price that varies with your arrival point.

You can hold a bench by paying half of the course price and paying the rest on the day, which lets you commit to a date before everything else is arranged.

Using the skill at home

The skill is yours to take back to wherever you work in Northern Ireland. Your finished panels serve as a portfolio, and the Zavoré certificate shows you trained.

Trade pricing on materials is available after the course, and the private group and helpline stay with you for life. Advanced students also receive help to find, price and win a first paid decorative job.

Zavoré installs Venetian plaster across the UK with its own applicators, which you can read about on the page for Venetian plastering in Northern Ireland. Materials can be ordered from the shop with tracked UK delivery.
