Lime Venetian plaster, Marmorino and tadelakt for Worthing homes and businesses, tinted to your sample in Birmingham and laid by our own applicators.
Zavoré carries out Venetian plastering in Worthing for houses, seafront apartments and businesses along the coast. We are a Birmingham based supplier and installer of authentic Italian lime based Venetian plaster and other decorative finishes, and the people who lay your walls are our own applicators, travelling down to you. The first step is easy, either email photos of the room to sales@zavore.co.uk or order a sample board in the colour you have in mind.
Worthing is well outside a day trip from Birmingham, so we schedule your job as a single block of days. The applicators stay on the job for the duration and lay the coats one after another, rather than leaving half finished walls between visits.
Worthing grew as a seaside resort in the late Georgian and Regency years, and that early town survives in the stuccoed terraces and crescents near the centre, such as Park Crescent. Victorian streets fill in behind them, and the pier still anchors the promenade.
Along the seafront, those older houses share the view with apartment blocks from several decades, many with large windows facing the Channel. Inland the town spreads into Broadwater, Tarring, Durrington, Goring by Sea and Findon Valley, where most homes are interwar and postwar semis, chalets and bungalows. West Tarring still keeps the flint and brick cottages of its old village street.
So a Worthing job could mean a tall Regency room with lime plastered walls, a seafront flat with concrete and plasterboard behind the paint, or a 1930s bungalow with a mix of both after decades of updates. Coastal homes can also show condensation and damp where ventilation is poor, which is something we look for at survey before recommending any finish.
For bungalows and family homes with busy hallways, we will point you towards a finish that is easy to live with and simple to touch up.
We start from your photos, rough measurements and postcode. If the questions are small, we can often answer them from the pictures. Before pricing an installation we survey the walls, covering what they are made of, how flat they are, cracks, damp, movement, how you use the room, access and protection. If a wall needs a skim, stripping or a damp repair first, you will hear that from us straight away.
Once the sample and price are agreed, the dates follow. Your plaster is tinted to the approved sample before it leaves Birmingham. Polished finishes show every dip in a wall, so the base coats have to make it flat before polishing starts, and it helps if other trades have finished and the room is warm enough for each coat to dry.
Many seafront blocks have managing agents, shared lifts and rules about working hours and protecting common parts, so please check these early. On street parking near the front can be tight in summer. The full service is set out on our Venetian plaster installation page.
For restaurants, salons and holiday lets, the finish has to cope with heavy use and be easy to repair. We can help you choose between lime Venetian plaster, Marmorino and harder wearing options such as microcement, and designers can find more on our specification page.
If you would rather use your own decorator, we sell the materials tinted to your colour and send them by tracked delivery. Useful background reading includes our guide to restaurant walls and our article on tadelakt or microcement. You can also browse every area we cover.
Yes. Our own applicators come from Birmingham to Worthing, Goring by Sea, Durrington, Findon Valley and the rest of the area, with each job booked as a block of days.
The finish itself is for interior walls. What matters is that the wall behind it is dry and sound, so we check for damp and condensation at survey and tell you if anything needs fixing first.
It depends what the walls are now. Many have been replastered or boarded over the years, which suits polished plaster, while original solid walls are better with a breathable lime finish such as Marmorino.
We would use tadelakt or microcement in a shower, over a wall that has been properly prepared and waterproofed, and keep Venetian plaster for the rest of the bathroom.
