Venetian plastering in Horsham

Venetian plaster, Marmorino and clay finishes for Horsham and its villages, tinted in Birmingham to the sample you approve and laid by our own applicators.

For Venetian plastering in Horsham, Zavoré supplies authentic Italian lime based Venetian plaster and installs it with our own applicators, who travel from our base in Birmingham. We also lay Marmorino, clay plaster, limewash, microcement and a range of other decorative finishes. A good place to begin is a sample board in your chosen colour, or an email to sales@zavore.co.uk with photos of the walls.

Jobs this far south are planned in blocks of days. Rather than driving back and forth, the applicators remain on your project and work through each coat in order until the finish is complete.

Horsham buildings, old and new

Horsham is a market town in the Low Weald of West Sussex, and its oldest streets show it. The Causeway, running from the town centre down to St Mary’s Church, is lined with timber framed and brick houses, several roofed in the heavy sandstone slabs known as Horsham stone. Around the Carfax and the older streets nearby, historic buildings sit above modern shopfronts.

The railway brought Victorian and Edwardian terraces and villas within walking distance of the station, and the twentieth century added large areas of semis and detached houses as the town grew. In recent years big new neighbourhoods have been built on the northern and western edges, and the villages across Horsham district, from Southwater to Billingshurst and Henfield, mix old cottages with modern estates.

For us that means three kinds of wall. Timber framed rooms have infill panels and old plaster that need a soft, breathable finish. Victorian brick walls are solid but often patched. New build houses are mostly plasterboard, which is flat but needs its joints reinforced and a suitable primer before anything decorative goes on.

Which finishes work in Horsham homes

  • Clay plaster or limewash for timber framed cottages and older rooms, where an earthy, breathable surface sits comfortably on walls that are not quite straight.
  • Marmorino for Victorian and Edwardian houses near the station, adding the look of polished stone while letting solid walls breathe.
  • Venetian plaster for living rooms and stairwells in newer homes, where flat plasterboard walls can be taken to a deep, layered polish once the joints are prepared.
  • Concrete effect for open plan kitchens and extensions that want a quieter, more modern surface.

If you are unsure which finish fits, send a few photos of the room and tell us how you use it. Durability in a family hallway matters as much as the look.

How a Venetian plastering job in Horsham goes

We usually begin with your photos and rough sizes, which are often enough to answer early questions. Before we price the installation, we survey the walls in person. We look at the substrate and how flat it is, any cracks, damp or movement, how the room is used, and what access and protection we will need. Where a wall must be skimmed, stripped or dried out first, we say so honestly.

After you sign off the sample and the price, we agree dates. The material is then tinted in Birmingham to match your approved sample. Venetian plaster builds up in thin coats, each needing to dry before the next, so the room should be free of other trades and kept reasonably warm. New build homes are worth leaving until the plasterboard and any fresh skim have fully dried out.

Questions about Venetian plastering in Horsham

Do you cover the villages around Horsham as well as the town?

Yes. Our applicators travel from Birmingham to Horsham and the villages around it, such as Southwater, Billingshurst and Henfield, planning each job as a block of days.

What finish suits a timber framed cottage near Horsham?

A breathable finish such as clay plaster, limewash or Marmorino. Old timber and infill panels need to release moisture, and a sealed acrylic layer can stop them doing that.

Can you plaster a new build house on the edge of Horsham?

Yes. Plasterboard walls need their joints reinforced and the right primer, and then the base coats prepare a flat surface for the polish.

How do I choose a colour before you arrive?

Order a sample board in one of our 48 house colours or any NCS reference and see it in the room through the day. Your full order is tinted to the sample you approve.

To arrange a survey, phone 07592 929191 from Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm, or email pictures, approximate measurements and your postcode to sales@zavore.co.uk. You can order a sample board at any time.
