Venetian plastering in Wilmslow

Polished plaster, Marmorino and metallic finishes, tinted to your sample in Birmingham and applied in Wilmslow by our own applicators.

Zavoré supplies and installs Venetian plastering in Wilmslow, from a single feature wall to a whole house. We are based in Birmingham, we use authentic Italian lime based Venetian plaster and other decorative finishes, and our own applicators travel to apply them. Begin with a sample board, or email photos and your postcode to sales@zavore.co.uk.

We plan Wilmslow installs as a block of days. The applicators stay on the job, so each coat goes on in the right order and nothing is rushed to fit a journey.

The homes and buildings of Wilmslow

Wilmslow is a Cheshire town just south of the Greater Manchester boundary, and a great deal of its housing is larger than average. Around the centre and the railway station there are Victorian and Edwardian houses and villas. Fulshaw, Lacey Green and Dean Row bring in interwar and postwar family homes, many of them detached and many extended, and the older streets have been joined by new apartment blocks close to the shops.

Handforth lies next door, with plenty of 20th century semis, and Styal, with its mill village, lies nearby. Much of the surrounding countryside is green belt, so the town has grown by replacing and extending houses as much as by building new ones.

That has a direct effect on the walls. Extensions and knock through ground floors create large, plain plasterboard surfaces that suit a smooth finish. Older villas have solid walls, plaster that has been patched many times and ceilings with cornice. A newly built wall and a hundred year old wall behave very differently, and we plan for each.

Finishes that suit Wilmslow homes

  • Polished plaster across open plan living rooms and kitchen extensions, where a long, flat wall shows off a deep sheen.
  • Marmorino for Victorian and Edwardian villas, because it is breathable lime and its soft surface flatters older plaster.
  • Liquid metal for a dining room, study or entrance hall where you want a subtle glow, used on a single wall or a chimney breast.
  • Microcement for bathrooms, wet rooms and utility spaces, laid on a properly waterproofed substrate, as we do not suggest Venetian plaster in a shower.

On large rooms, flatness is the key question, because polished finishes show every dip. We tell you honestly if a wall needs a skim coat first.

How a Venetian plastering job in Wilmslow runs

We begin with your pictures, rough measurements and postcode. Before we price we survey the walls, checking the substrate, flatness, cracks, damp and movement, how the room is used, and how we get in and protect your floors. Where a wall is not ready, we say so and explain what should be done first.

When you have signed off the sample and price, we agree dates. We tint the plaster to your approved sample before it leaves Birmingham. The walls then take several thin coats with drying time between them, so it helps if painters, joiners and electricians have finished and the house is warm enough for the plaster to dry steadily.

Tell us early about gated entrances, shared drives, delivery limits or any restrictions on working hours. See the full service on our Venetian plaster installation page.

Designers, builders and your own decorator

If you are working with an interior designer or architect on a larger project, our specification page is the place to start. If your builder or decorator will apply the finish, we can tint and send the materials tracked to you, and they can learn the craft on a Venetian plaster course in Birmingham.

Two guides are worth reading first, Venetian plaster in the living room and Venetian plaster in kitchens. You can also see every area we cover.

Questions about Venetian plastering in Wilmslow

Do you travel to Wilmslow for Venetian plastering?

Yes. Our own applicators travel from Birmingham, and because of the distance the work is planned in blocks of days so the team stays and finishes each coat in sequence.

Can Venetian plaster go on a new extension in Wilmslow?

Yes. New walls are usually plasterboard, so the joints need reinforcing and the right primer. Flat walls are ideal for a polished finish.

Which finish suits an Edwardian villa near the station?

Marmorino or limewash, both breathable lime, which suits solid walls. If the ceiling has cornice we can repair or match it.

Can I choose any colour?

Yes. Venetian plaster comes in 48 house colours or any NCS reference. A sample board shows you the range before you decide.

To discuss your walls, call 07592 929191, Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm, or email sales@zavore.co.uk. Order a sample board to start.
