Venetian plastering in Watford

Lime Venetian plaster, polished plaster and microcement, tinted to your colour in Birmingham and laid by our own applicators in Watford.

Zavoré can supply and install Venetian plastering in Watford, for homes, apartments, restaurants, shops and offices. We are based in Birmingham, and our own applicators travel to Hertfordshire to lay authentic Italian lime based Venetian plaster and other decorative finishes. To get started, send photos, rough measurements and your postcode to sales@zavore.co.uk, or order a sample board.

Watford is well outside the Midlands, so we plan work in blocks of days. The applicators stay on the job and lay each coat in turn, and dates are agreed once the sample and price are approved.

A busy town with every kind of building

Watford is a large Hertfordshire town on the northern edge of London, and it mixes more eras than most. The centre grew around the High Street and the railway at Watford Junction, with Victorian and Edwardian terraces fanning out from it. The town was once known for printing and brewing, and some of the older industrial buildings around the centre have found new uses.

To the west, Cassiobury Park gives the town a big public green space, and the streets near it have larger Victorian, Edwardian and interwar houses. Much of the rest of Watford is the interwar and postwar housing of the twentieth century. The Metropolitan line reaches the town, and the semis and detached houses of the 1930s that were built across the area are a typical Watford home. Neighbouring Bushey, Oxhey and Garston share the same pattern. Newer flats and blocks have gone up in and around the town centre.

So the walls we meet here range from solid Victorian brick, through plastered 1930s brick walls, to modern boards. A finish that works on one may not suit the next, so we judge each house on its own.

Finishes that fit Watford buildings

  • Venetian plaster in the living room or hallway of a 1930s semi, where a classic polished surface lifts a modest room.
  • Marmorino for Victorian terraces near the centre, because the lime lets old brick walls breathe.
  • Polished plaster for newer apartments with flat walls, where it gives a deep sheen to a smaller space.
  • Microcement for bathrooms, kitchens and shop fittings that need to cope with water and wear.
  • Liquid metal for a restaurant or reception, where a metallic wall catches the light.

We would not put Venetian plaster inside a shower. In wet rooms we recommend tadelakt or microcement on a properly waterproofed wall.

Running a job in Watford

We begin with photos and a conversation, then survey the walls before pricing. We check the surface, how flat it is, cracks, damp, movement, how the space is used, and how we get materials in. If a wall needs skimming, stripping or a damp fix, we say so plainly.

After you approve a sample, we tint the material in Birmingham before it leaves us. Venetian plaster comes in 48 house colours or any NCS reference. Town centre parking and loading can be limited, so for flats and commercial units let us know about lifts, loading times and building rules. A shop or restaurant also needs a plan so the finish can dry without staff and customers brushing the walls.

Warmth matters. Cold, damp rooms slow the process, so keep the heating gently on while the coats dry. Every finish we lay is listed on our installation page.

Developers, designers and commercial clients

If you are fitting out a restaurant, a salon, a reception or a show apartment, our page for designers and architects explains how to specify a finish. Our guides to commercial Venetian plaster and microcement against tiles may help you choose. Trade customers can set up a trade account, and decorators can book a course in Birmingham. Questions about Venetian plastering in Watford

Can you plaster a 1930s semi in Watford?

Yes. Walls from that period are usually plastered brick, and we survey for flatness, cracks and damp before choosing a finish.

Do you work on commercial premises in Watford?

Yes. We install in homes, flats, restaurants, shops and offices. For commercial work we plan access, loading and drying around how the space is used.

Does Watford count as far from Birmingham?

It is a long enough trip that we plan the work in blocks of days, so the applicators stay on site rather than travelling back and forth.

Can my own decorator use your plaster?

Yes. We tint it to your approved colour and send it by tracked delivery.

To talk it through, call 07592 929191, Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm, or email sales@zavore.co.uk. A sample board is the best place to start.
