Warrington is outside our home area, so we plan installs in blocks of days. The applicators stay on site through the job and finish each coat in sequence, which keeps the work tidy and avoids repeated journeys.
Warrington is an old river crossing town on the Mersey that was later expanded as a new town. That gives it two quite separate kinds of housing. In the older parts, such as Latchford beside the Manchester Ship Canal and the streets around the centre, you find Victorian brick terraces and some Georgian buildings, among them the town hall with its famous ornate gates.
On the southern side, Stockton Heath and Grappenhall sit along the Bridgewater Canal with Victorian and Edwardian houses and some conservation area streets, while Lymm has a village centre, larger period houses and many substantial modern homes.
The new town growth brought estates such as Birchwood, Westbrook and Callands, with a good deal of housing from the 1970s onwards. Those homes tend to have plasterboard walls and ceilings and simple room shapes, which suits a flat, even finish well.
So the same town needs two methods. Old solid brick walls want a breathable lime finish. Newer walls want board joints reinforced and the right primer before anything decorative goes on.
For wet rooms, microcement or tadelakt over a properly waterproofed wall is our advice, not Venetian plaster inside a shower.
Send photos, rough measurements and the postcode first. Small questions can often be answered from the pictures. For a quote we survey the walls, noting the substrate, flatness, cracks, damp, movement, access and how the room is used. If a wall needs skimming or stripping, or if damp has to be sorted out first, we say so before you commit.
When the sample and price are signed off, we agree dates. Your plaster is tinted to the approved sample before it leaves Birmingham. Because each coat needs to dry, it helps if the room is empty or well protected, other trades have finished, and the heating can run gently while the work cures.
