For larger projects in the Vale we plan the days as a block, so the applicators stay on site and each coat follows the last in the right order.
The Vale has several very different kinds of place, and they ask for different things from a wall.
Penarth is the Victorian seaside town above the water, with a pier and streets of large villas and terraces, many of them built in the age when the coal trade made Cardiff and its neighbours rich. Rooms are tall, ceilings carry cornices, and the walls are solid. Barry grew up around its docks. Its long rows of Victorian and Edwardian terraces fill the streets around the centre, and Barry Island is a traditional seaside resort. Barry Waterfront, on the old dock land, brings newer flats and houses with plasterboard walls.
Cowbridge is a handsome market town with a long main street and Georgian frontages, and the countryside around it has farmhouses, converted barns and village cottages. Llantwit Major is much older again, with a medieval church and narrow streets close to the Glamorgan Heritage Coast. Much of the Vale is limestone country, and old buildings are often built of local stone and then rendered.
Those differences matter. A Victorian villa in Penarth wants a breathable finish and a careful look at its ceiling plaster. A new flat in Barry wants flat walls and the right primer. A stone cottage near the coast wants lime and a survey for damp.
Photos and a room list start the conversation. A survey checks the substrate, flatness, cracks, damp, movement, how the room is used, and access and protection. We tell you plainly when a wall needs skimming, stripping or damp dealt with first.
When the sample and price are approved we agree dates. The colour, one of 48 house shades or any NCS reference, is tinted in Birmingham. On Penarth’s narrower streets and in flat blocks, parking and lifts can affect delivery, so tell us early. In cold, damp rooms the coats dry slowly, so we discuss heating before we begin.

Marmorino is a strong choice for solid walled villas, because it is lime based and breathable. We can also look at repairing cornices in the same rooms.
Yes. New flats have plasterboard walls, so joints are reinforced and the right primer is used before polished plaster or Venetian plaster goes on.
Yes. Our own applicators travel from Birmingham to anywhere in the Vale, and larger jobs are planned as a block of days. Dates follow once the sample and price are signed off.
