Lime Venetian plaster and decorative finishes, tinted to your colour in Birmingham and laid on your Stockport walls by our own applicators.
Zavoré supplies and installs Venetian plastering in Stockport, from Victorian villas in the Heatons to mill conversions in the town and interwar semis in Cheadle and Bramhall. We are based in Birmingham, our own applicators travel to Stockport to lay each coat, and your colour is tinted to the approved sample before it leaves us. Order a sample board or email photos and a postcode to sales@zavore.co.uk.
Larger jobs here are planned as blocks of days, so the applicators stay on site and work through the coats in order. We agree dates once the sample and price are signed off.
Stockport is a town of hills, brick and mills. The huge brick railway viaduct crossing the Mersey valley tells you what sort of place it is, and so do the old hat works and cotton mills beside the river. The historic Market Place and the Underbanks sit on a steep slope in the old town, with Georgian and Victorian buildings, and a number of former mills have been turned into homes and workspaces.
Many of the town's houses were built for the people who worked in those mills and for the merchants who owned them. Heaton Moor, Heaton Mersey and Heaton Chapel have rows of Victorian and Edwardian terraces and some larger villas, while Reddish, Edgeley and Portwood have older working streets. Solid brick walls, tall ceilings and plaster that has been patched many times are common in all of them.
Further south and east, Cheadle, Cheadle Hulme and Bramhall are leafy suburbs, with Bramhall Hall, a black and white timber framed house, at the heart of its park. The 1930s brought many mock Tudor semis and detached houses, and later decades brought estates of postwar and recent homes. Marple and Romiley, near the Peak District edge, mix stone cottages with Victorian villas.
The same word, plaster, covers very different walls here. An old brick terrace suits a breathable lime finish, while a 1960s house or a new flat needs levelling and priming first.
Begin with photos, rough measurements and the postcode, which often answer small questions. Before we price an installation we survey the walls for substrate, flatness, cracks, damp, movement, access and protection. If a wall needs skimming, stripping or a damp problem fixing, we tell you plainly.
Once you approve the sample and price, the plaster is tinted in Birmingham and the dates are agreed. Thin coats have to dry between layers, so other trades should be done, and a cold, damp room needs gentle heat. Stockport's hillside streets can be steep and parking on terraced roads is often tight, so tell us about access when you write. See everything we install on the installation page.
If you work with your own decorator, we send tinted plaster, base coats and wax tracked to your door. Our Venetian plaster courses in Birmingham teach the craft, and trade accounts help builders and decorators reorder.
