Venetian plastering in Salford

Lime Venetian plaster and polished finishes, tinted to your colour in Birmingham and laid on your Salford walls by our own applicators.

Zavoré provides Venetian plastering in Salford for waterside apartments, Victorian terraces, converted mills and larger family houses. We are based in Birmingham and our own applicators travel to Salford to install, with the plaster tinted to your approved sample before it leaves us. The easiest way to begin is a sample board, or a few photos and the postcode sent to sales@zavore.co.uk.

Bigger Salford jobs are planned in blocks of days, so the team stays on site and lays each coat in order. Dates are agreed once the sample and price are signed off. If you are on the Manchester side of the river, our Manchester page covers the neighbouring city.

Salford's homes and what they ask of a finish

Salford sits across the River Irwell from Manchester, and it is a city in its own right. It grew on cotton and on the Manchester Ship Canal, and that industrial past is still visible in the brick warehouses, mills and chimneys around Ordsall, Greengate and Chapel Street. Many have been converted to flats, with tall windows, exposed brick and cast iron columns.

The old docks at Salford Quays have been rebuilt as a waterside district, with the Lowry arts centre and MediaCityUK, where the BBC is based. Around them rise modern apartment buildings. Their walls are typically plasterboard or framed construction, flat and clean, which is ideal for polished finishes once joints are reinforced and the right primer is applied.

Away from the water, the housing is mostly red brick. There are rows of Victorian and Edwardian terraces in Pendleton, Ordsall and Eccles, interwar semis in places like Swinton, and larger Victorian houses in parts of Broughton and Kersal. Worsley and Monton are leafier, with older cottages and villas beside the canal and the green spaces. A Victorian terrace has solid brick walls that suit a lime finish. A new apartment needs a different approach.

Finishes that suit Salford properties

  • Polished plaster for Quays and city apartments, where flat walls and big windows show off a deep, even sheen.
  • Concrete effect for mill and warehouse conversions, which pairs naturally with exposed brick and steel.
  • Marmorino for Victorian terraces and villas, since it is lime and lets solid brick breathe.
  • Limewash for hallways and bedrooms, giving colour and texture with no shine.
  • Microcement for bathrooms and showers, because Venetian plaster is not what we put in a shower.

How a Venetian plastering job in Salford runs

We start with photos, rough measurements and your postcode. Then we survey the walls, checking the substrate, flatness, cracks, damp, movement and how the room is used. A converted mill may have uneven brick or painted surfaces, and we say plainly if something needs skimming, stripping or repair first.

After the sample and price are approved, your plaster is tinted in Birmingham to match the sample. The coats are thin and dry in turn, so other trades should be finished before we arrive, and the heating should stay gently on in a cold room. In apartment blocks, ask your management company about lifts, loading and parking early, because access is often shared. A full list of services is on the installation page.
