Lime Venetian plaster, Marmorino and polished plaster, tinted to your colour in Birmingham and laid across South Yorkshire by our own applicators.
Zavoré provides Venetian plastering in South Yorkshire, across Sheffield, Doncaster, Rotherham, Barnsley and the villages and valleys around them. We are based in Birmingham, our own applicators travel to South Yorkshire to lay each finish, and the plaster is tinted to your approved sample before it leaves us. To start, order a sample board, or email photos of your walls and the postcode to sales@zavore.co.uk.
Our Birmingham base is some way south, so we plan work here in blocks of days. The team stays and lays each coat in order, rather than going back and forth.
South Yorkshire is a county of four boroughs, and the land underneath shapes the buildings above. In the west, where the Pennines rise into the edge of the Peak District, houses and farms are built of gritstone, around Penistone, Stocksbridge and the Sheffield uplands. Through the middle run the coalfield valleys of the Don and the Dearne, with brick and stone terraces built for miners and steelworkers. In the east, around Doncaster, the ground flattens and the older villages use pale magnesian limestone, with Conisbrough Castle as a landmark.
Sheffield is the big city, with Victorian stone villas on its western hills and converted works near the centre. Doncaster is a railway and market town, Rotherham is a steel town with a medieval bridge chapel, and Barnsley is a stone and brick mining town with an Art Deco town hall. Each has its own page on this site.
Around the cities there is plenty of newer building. Interwar and postwar semis surround every town, and recent estates stand on old colliery and steel land. Country houses such as Wentworth Woodhouse and Cannon Hall hint at the grander side of the county’s past.
That mixture of gritstone, limestone and brick means the first job is always to understand the wall. Is it solid and breathable, or has it been lined, skimmed or sealed? The finish follows from the answer.
For a shop, restaurant or bar in the area, a metallic finish can bring warmth to a modern space.
It begins with photos and a survey of the substrate, flatness, cracks, damp, movement, how the room is used, and access and protection. Former mining areas can have ground movement, and older stone houses can hold damp, so we look closely and tell you plainly if something needs sorting first.
When you approve the sample and price, dates are agreed. Your plaster is tinted in Birmingham to the approved sample, and Venetian plaster comes in 48 house colours or any NCS reference. Layers need time to dry, and cold, damp rooms slow that down.
Many hill streets are steep and many town centres have limited parking, so tell us about access early. See everything we lay on our installation page, and browse every area we cover.
Housebuilders, designers and architects working on schemes in the county can read our specifier page. Trade customers can open a trade account for repeat orders, and our guide to buying Venetian plaster in the UK explains what to order and how it is delivered.

A lime based finish such as limewash or Marmorino lets thick stone walls breathe. A sealed acrylic coating can trap moisture.
It can show up as cracks, so we check for movement at survey. Hairline cracks and active movement are treated differently, and we say plainly what a wall needs first.
Yes. We tint it to your colour and send it tracked, with base coats and wax.
