Lime Venetian plaster, Marmorino and cornice work for Leamington homes, tinted in Birmingham and laid by our own applicators.
Zavoré provides Venetian plastering in Leamington Spa for the town’s Regency terraces, Victorian villas, converted flats and newer homes. Our own applicators travel from our Birmingham base, and every colour is tinted before it leaves us. To begin, ask for a sample board, or email photos of the rooms and your postcode to sales@zavore.co.uk.
Leamington is a town of tall rooms and fine plaster detail, so a breathable lime finish is a natural fit. The question is usually which finish.
Leamington grew from a village into a fashionable spa town in the early nineteenth century, and the result is a townscape of Regency and early Victorian terraces. White stuccoed terraces and crescents line streets such as Lansdowne Crescent, and the Parade, the Pump Rooms and the Jephson Gardens give the centre its formal shape. A large part of the town is conservation area.
The houses built for visitors and for the wealthy are tall and generous. Sash windows, cornices, ceiling roses, shutters and fireplaces are still common, though many of the large villas have been divided into flats over the years. North of the River Leam the Old Town has a more mixed, Victorian character, with terraces, shops and workshops.
Further out come Edwardian and interwar suburbs, then postwar housing and newer developments on the edges around Whitnash and towards the villages. A great deal of the town is therefore solid brick and render with lime plaster inside, which a breathable finish respects.
The walls of a divided villa can be a patchwork of old lime plaster, modern skim and plasterboard partitions. We check each room, as the preparation can differ from one wall to the next.
Many questions can be settled from photos. For a full installation we survey first, checking the substrate, how flat the walls are, any cracks, damp or movement, how the room is used, access and what must be protected. If a wall needs skimming, stripping or a damp fault repairing, we say so plainly.
After you sign off the sample and the price, we agree dates, and for a job of any size we plan the work in blocks of days so the applicators remain on site and lay each coat in order. The plaster is tinted to your approved sample in Birmingham, from our 48 house colours or any NCS reference.
In a listed building or a conservation area, check any consent needed for the work with your local planning team before you book. Our page on Venetian plaster installation explains what we lay, and you can compare our colours before ordering.
Leamington has many interior designers, developers and landlords with period flats to refresh. Our designers and architects page sets out how we work with specifiers, and our article on lime plaster and Venetian plaster explains how the two relate. See every area we cover too.
Marmorino is a good starting point, because it is lime based and breathable and its soft sheen sits well with period detail. We would survey the old plaster first.
