Venetian plastering in Rugby

Lime Venetian plaster, Marmorino and polished plaster for Rugby, Bilton and Hillmorton homes, tinted in Birmingham and laid by our own applicators.

Zavoré supplies and installs Venetian plastering in Rugby for houses, flats and new developments. Our own applicators travel from our Birmingham base, and the plaster is tinted to the colour you approve before it leaves us. Start with a sample board, or send photos of the walls with your postcode to sales@zavore.co.uk.

Rugby has a surprising range of homes for a town of its size, from Victorian terraces to estates still being built. We choose a finish to suit what the wall actually is.

Railway, school and new neighbourhoods

Rugby is famous for Rugby School and the game that took the town’s name. The school’s Gothic Revival buildings stand near the town centre, and the streets around the market place keep a mix of Georgian and Victorian buildings. Part of that area is conservation area.

The town also grew as a railway junction and an engineering centre in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, which brought the terraced streets that sit close to the station and the older industrial areas. These are solid brick houses, many with narrow plots, original fireplaces and decades of repainting.

Suburbs such as Bilton and Hillmorton are largely interwar and postwar, with semi detached houses, bungalows and later estates. On the edge of Rugby, the former Radio Station land has been developed as the new community of Houlton, with new build homes of the kind that have plasterboard walls and tight programmes.

Surrounding Rugby are villages and farms with older thick walled houses. Each of these building types needs a different approach, from a breathable lime finish on old brick to careful joints and priming on new boards.

Finishes that suit Rugby homes

  • Marmorino for a Victorian terrace or a house near the school, where solid walls want breathable lime and a gentle sheen lifts the plainest room.
  • Polished plaster for new build living rooms in the newer parts of town, where flat boards allow a deep, glossy surface.
  • Concrete effect for a modern kitchen or open plan space, giving a calm, grey toned wall.
  • Tadelakt for a bathroom, on a wall that has been properly waterproofed, as we do not put Venetian plaster inside a shower.

How a Venetian plastering job in Rugby runs

It starts with photos, rough measurements and your postcode. If we need to see the room, we survey the walls, checking the substrate, flatness, cracks, damp, movement, access and what needs protecting. We tell you plainly if a wall needs skimming, stripping or a damp fault fixing before decoration.

Once you have signed off the sample and price, we agree dates. The plaster is tinted to that sample in Birmingham from our 48 house colours or any NCS reference, and a job of some size is planned in blocks of days so the team stays and lays each coat in order.

New homes bring their own checks. Plasterboard needs its joints reinforced and the right primer, and polished finishes show every dip, so walls must be flat. Our guide to Venetian plaster on plasterboard explains the preparation, and our installation page shows what we lay.

Developers, show homes and repeat orders

If you build or manage homes around Rugby, a feature wall in a show home or a shared lobby can set a scheme apart. Our trade accounts make repeat orders simpler, and architects can find detail on our specification page. See every area we cover for the full list.

Questions about Venetian plastering in Rugby

Do you install Venetian plaster in new build homes in Rugby?

Yes. We reinforce plasterboard joints, prime correctly and make sure the walls are flat before a polished finish goes on.

Which finish suits an older terrace near Rugby station?

Solid brick walls suit a breathable lime finish such as Marmorino or limewash. We check for damp and cracks during the survey.

Do your applicators travel to Rugby?

Yes. They travel from Birmingham, and bigger jobs are planned in blocks of days so each coat goes on in order.

Can I order the plaster for my own decorator in Rugby?

Yes. We tint it to your colour and send it tracked with base coats, wax and tools.
