Limewash, Marmorino and lime Venetian plaster for Herefordshire homes, with jobs planned in blocks of days so our own applicators stay until the last coat.
Zavoré takes on Venetian plastering in Herefordshire for homeowners in Ledbury, Leominster, Ross on Wye, Bromyard, Kington and the villages and farms around them. Our own applicators come from Birmingham to lay lime based Venetian plaster, Marmorino, limewash, concrete effect and tadelakt. To get going, send us pictures of the rooms and the postcode, and order a sample board in your preferred colour.
Because Herefordshire sits on the far side of the Malverns from us, installations here are arranged in blocks of days. That way the people laying your walls stay with the job from start to finish and every coat goes on in its proper order.
Herefordshire is one of the most rural counties in England, and its buildings show it. Outside the city of Hereford, life centres on a handful of small market towns, each with its own character.
Ledbury is known for timber framing, with its Market House raised on wooden posts and cobbled Church Lane running up towards the church. Leominster also has many timber framed buildings, among them Grange Court, the old market hall moved and rebuilt in the town. Ross on Wye stands above a bend in the Wye with a red sandstone Market House at its heart, and Bromyard and Kington are smaller towns near the eastern and western edges of the county.
Between them lie the black and white villages, farmhouses built of the local red sandstone, and the hop kilns and barns left from the hop growing and cider making that shaped the farming here. Many of those kilns and barns are now homes, and many older houses across the county are listed.
Old Herefordshire walls are usually thick and solid, or timber framed with infill panels, and they rely on drying out through their surfaces. Conversions often add new studwork and plasterboard inside old walls. And around the edges of the larger towns there are modern estates with flat board walls and ceilings.
Start with photos. They let us answer the quick questions and decide what we need to see in person. The survey itself covers what each wall is made of and how true it is, any cracking, damp or movement, what happens in the room, and how we reach it and keep the rest of the house clean. If old plaster has to come off, a wall needs skimming, or a damp problem must be fixed first, we explain that plainly before quoting.
Colour is settled on a sample board, picked from 48 house colours or matched to an NCS reference. When you have signed off the board and the price, we book your block of days, and the material is coloured to the sample in Birmingham so it reaches you ready to lay.
Lime needs its drying time between coats, and a farmhouse with thick walls can stay chilly through winter, so keeping some heat on makes a difference. Lanes to farms and hamlets can be narrow, and it helps to know where a van can park. Our installations page lists everything we lay.
You may already know a tradesperson you trust and would rather they did the application. We can tint the materials to your board and post them out by tracked courier, with the primers and wax that go with them. Decorators who would like hands on experience can join our training in Birmingham.
Worth reading before you choose are our pieces on limewash problems and their fixes and on concrete effect walls. There is also a dedicated page for Hereford, and a page listing every area we cover.
No. Our own applicators travel from Birmingham and work in blocks of days here, staying with your job until the final coat is finished.
Conversions often mix old masonry with new board in the same room. Old masonry is best with a breathable lime finish, and new board needs reinforced joints and the right primer, so the survey decides what goes where.
Usually limewash or a soft Marmorino. Both are lime, so the wall can still breathe, and neither depends on a perfectly flat surface the way a high polish does.
Yes. We colour it to your approved sample and send it with tracking, together with the base coats and wax.
