Lime Venetian plaster, Marmorino and limewash for Hastings and St Leonards, tinted to your colour in Birmingham and laid by our own applicators.
Zavoré supplies and installs Venetian plastering in Hastings, including St Leonards, for period houses, flats and small commercial spaces. We use authentic Italian lime based Venetian plaster, Marmorino, limewash and other decorative finishes. We are based in Birmingham, and our own applicators travel to Hastings to install. To begin, request a sample board or email photos of the walls and your postcode to sales@zavore.co.uk.
Hastings is a town of steep streets, old walls and tall houses, and each of those shapes how we plan the work.
Hastings Old Town lies in a narrow valley between the East and West Hills, and its streets, including the High Street and All Saints Street, have timber framed and Georgian houses with thick, uneven walls. Down by the shore are the tall, black weatherboarded net huts on the Stade, which are part of the town’s fishing history. These are old buildings, often with lime plaster over rubble, brick or timber, and they have to be treated gently.
The centre of town and the hillsides around it are filled with Victorian terraces and tall villas, many of them split into flats. St Leonards on Sea was laid out in the early nineteenth century as a planned seaside town, and it has Regency and Victorian terraces, villas and squares, with a seafront of stuccoed buildings. Further inland, areas such as Silverhill, Ore and Hollington have later housing, and newer homes sit on the edges of the town.
Many of these houses are tall and narrow with several storeys, steep stairs and no easy way up. That makes planning access and protection part of the job. Some are in conservation areas, and many are listed.
Bathrooms in a house like this should be done in tadelakt or microcement over a properly prepared, waterproofed wall, since we do not recommend Venetian plaster inside a shower.
We start with photos, then survey the walls. In older Hastings houses we look closely at damp, movement, cracks and what the existing plaster is made of. If a wall needs skimming, stripping or a damp problem fixed first, we say so plainly before we price anything.
When the sample and price are agreed, we fix dates. Your plaster is tinted to the approved sample before it leaves Birmingham, from 48 house colours or any NCS reference. Hastings is a long way from Birmingham, so we plan the work in blocks of days, with the team staying on the job and laying each coat in order.
On steep streets parking and unloading can be limited, so tell us how we reach the property and where materials can go. Read more on our Venetian plaster installation page.
If you have your own decorator, we can supply tinted plaster, base coats and wax tracked across the UK. Our journal guide to preparing walls is worth reading before you start, and you can browse every area we cover.
Yes. Our own applicators travel from Birmingham to both. We survey the walls first and agree dates once your sample and price are signed off.
Lime based finishes suit old, solid walls because they are breathable. We would check for damp and movement first and may suggest limewash or Marmorino.
It takes planning rather than anything special. We look at stairs, access and protection during the survey, so there are no surprises on site.
Yes. We tint it to your colour and send it tracked with the base coats and wax.
