Lime Venetian plaster, Marmorino and limewash for Eastbourne homes, tinted to your colour in Birmingham and laid by our own applicators.
Zavoré offers Venetian plastering in Eastbourne for houses, flats and hospitality spaces along the Sussex coast. We provide authentic Italian lime based Venetian plaster, Marmorino, limewash and other decorative finishes. Our base is in Birmingham, and our own applicators travel to Eastbourne to do the work. You can start with a sample board, or send photos of your rooms and your postcode to sales@zavore.co.uk.
Eastbourne is a planned Victorian seaside town with older villages folded into it, so the buildings vary more than you might expect.
Much of central Eastbourne was laid out in the nineteenth century, when the Devonshire estate developed the seafront. The result is the long sweep of Grand Parade, the pier, stuccoed hotels and terraces, and wide streets of tall Victorian houses, many of them now divided into flats. These rooms have generous ceilings and good proportions, often with plaster mouldings, but internal walls have been altered and repaired many times.
Meads, at the western end beneath the South Downs, is known for larger Victorian and Edwardian villas in big gardens. Old Town, a short way inland, is the original village, with older cottages and the medieval church, and the streets around it have a quite different scale. Further out, areas such as Hampden Park have interwar and later family housing. At Sovereign Harbour on the eastern side, newer apartments and townhouses sit around the marina and are built with modern board and block construction.
The Downs behind the town mean flint is part of the local building tradition, so older cottages and boundary walls often use it. Those solid walls need a finish that breathes.
Bathrooms near the sea are better with tadelakt or microcement than with Venetian plaster, because we do not recommend plaster inside a shower.
We start with photos and, if the job suits it, a survey. We look at the substrate, flatness, cracks, damp, movement, how the room is used, and access and protection. We say plainly if a wall needs skimming, stripping or a damp problem sorting out first, which is worth knowing in a seaside town where older walls may be damp.
When the sample and price are signed off we agree dates. The plaster is tinted to the approved sample before it leaves Birmingham, from 48 house colours or any NCS reference. Eastbourne is a long way from Birmingham, so the work is planned in blocks of days. The team stays on the job, lays each coat in order and does not travel back and forth between coats.
Seafront streets can be hard to park on, and flats may have lift or managing agent rules, so let us know early. Our Venetian plaster installation page covers what we lay.
Eastbourne has plenty of hospitality and holiday lets. A hard wearing, easily maintained wall matters more in a busy corridor than in a quiet sitting room, and we will say which finish is realistic. Our journal article on walls that last in busy restaurants covers the same thinking. You can also explore every area we cover.

Marmorino is a good fit, as it is lime based and breathable. We would survey for damp first, because older seaside walls can be affected.
Yes. Plasterboard walls need reinforced joints and the right primer, and a flat new wall suits a polished finish.
