Venetian plastering in Coventry

Lime Venetian plaster, Marmorino and limewash, tinted to your colour in Birmingham and laid on your walls by our own applicators.

Zavoré provides Venetian plastering in Coventry for homes, flats and commercial spaces. We are based in Birmingham, our own applicators travel out to lay every finish, and the plaster is tinted to your chosen colour before it leaves us. The simplest way to start is a sample board in your colour, or a few photos of the walls sent to sales@zavore.co.uk.

Coventry sits close to our Birmingham base, so a survey before we quote is easy to arrange, and if something changes on site during the job we can come back without it becoming a long trip.

The homes we plaster in Coventry

Coventry is a city of layers. The centre was largely rebuilt after the bombing of the Second World War, so much of the core is postwar, with concrete frames, shopping precincts and newer apartment blocks around the station and the universities. Next to that sit survivors from much older Coventry, such as the timber framed buildings on Spon Street, and the ruins of the old cathedral beside Basil Spence’s new one.

Out from the ring road the housing changes again. Earlsdon, Chapelfields and Stoke have Victorian and Edwardian terraces, some built for the watch and cycle trades, with solid brick walls, tall ceilings and a century of patch repairs. Further out are interwar and postwar semis, then the newer estates on the edge of the city, built with plasterboard walls and ceilings.

Those are three very different surfaces. A solid Victorian wall wants a breathable lime finish. A new build wall wants its board joints reinforced and the right primer. A 1960s flat often needs levelling before any polish goes near it. We decide the finish around the wall you actually have.

Finishes that suit Coventry homes

  • Marmorino for the solid walled terraces of Earlsdon and Chapelfields. It is lime, so it lets old brick breathe, and its soft grain hides the slight undulation of an older wall.
  • Polished plaster for city centre apartments and new builds, where the walls are flat and a deep, glassy sheen makes a smaller room feel richer.
  • Limewash for hallways, stairwells and bedrooms where you want movement and texture without a shine.
  • Microcement or tadelakt for bathrooms and showers, because Venetian plaster is not what we would put inside a shower.

For student lets and rental flats, a durable, easily repaired finish matters more than a showpiece, and we will say so when we recommend one.

How a Venetian plastering job in Coventry runs

It starts with photos and rough measurements, then a survey. We check what the walls are made of, how flat and sound they are, and whether there is any damp or movement to deal with first. If a wall needs skimming or stripping before the decorative finish, we tell you plainly.

Once you have approved a sample and the price, we agree your dates. Your plaster is tinted to that sample in Birmingham, so the team arrives with the right colour in the tubs. Venetian plaster goes on in thin layers with drying time between them, so it helps if skimming, electrics and joinery are finished and dry before we start, and if the heating can stay on gently while the coats dry.

In the city centre, parking and loading space are limited, so it helps to tell us early about permits, lifts or building access rules. See every finish we lay on our Venetian plaster installation page.

Buying Venetian plaster or learning to lay it

If you already have a decorator you trust, we can tint the plaster, base coats and wax to your colour and send them tracked to your Coventry address. If you are a decorator or plasterer wanting to add the finish yourself, our Venetian plaster courses run in Birmingham, and trade accounts make repeat orders simpler.

Further reading on choosing a finish for older walls is in our guide to lime or acrylic Venetian plaster, and our guide to plasterboard covers new build walls. You can also see every area we cover.

Questions about Venetian plastering in Coventry

Do you install Venetian plaster in Coventry yourselves?

Yes. Our own applicators travel from Birmingham to lay the finish. We survey the walls first and agree dates once you have approved a sample and the price.

Which finish suits a Victorian terrace in Earlsdon?

Solid brick walls in older terraces are best with a breathable lime finish such as Marmorino or limewash. A sealed acrylic coating can trap moisture in an old wall.

Can you plaster over new build plasterboard in Coventry?

Yes. Plasterboard needs its joints reinforced and the correct primer first, and the base coats do the flattening before any polishing starts.

Can I buy the plaster for my own decorator?

Yes. We tint it to your colour and send it tracked, along with the base coats, wax and tools your decorator needs.
