Limewash, Venetian plaster and Marmorino for the Royal Town, tinted to your sample in Birmingham and laid by our own applicators.
Zavoré carries out Venetian plastering in Sutton Coldfield, supplying authentic Italian lime based plaster and sending our own applicators from Birmingham to lay it. Alongside Venetian plaster we install limewash, Marmorino, polished plaster, microcement and other decorative wall finishes. A good first step is a sample board made up in your colour, or an email with photos of the rooms you have in mind.
Sutton Coldfield is part of the city of Birmingham today, so a survey visit is easy to fit in, and our applicators come and go each day while the coats go on.
The Royal Town grew quickly once the railway reached it in the Victorian period, and you can read that growth in its houses. Around the old town centre and Sutton Park there are Victorian villas and terraces with tall ceilings, deep skirtings and solid brick walls.
Four Oaks was laid out as a residential estate on the former park of Four Oaks Hall, and it is known for large detached houses on wide, leafy roads, including Arts and Crafts houses from around the turn of the twentieth century. Some keep panelled halls, broad staircases and original plasterwork worth looking after.
Boldmere and Wylde Green are mostly Edwardian and interwar, with bay fronted semis and terraces close to the shops on Boldmere Road. Walmley, to the east, is largely postwar and later housing, and newer apartment buildings have appeared in and around the town centre.
So in one town we might be working on a hallway that has been lime plastered for over a century, a semi where half the walls were reskimmed in the 1980s, or a new flat finished in plasterboard. Each needs its own preparation before any decorative finish goes on.
Send us photos, rough measurements and your postcode first. We then survey the rooms, checking the backing behind the existing plaster, how flat it is, whether there are cracks, damp or signs of movement, and how the room is lived in. If old paint needs stripping or a wall needs skimming before we can start, you will hear that from us plainly.
After you sign off the sample and the price, we fix dates with you. Your plaster is tinted to the approved sample in Birmingham, so the colour on the wall matches the colour on the board.
In the larger houses, rooms are often lived in while we work, so tell us early about pets, furniture and anything that cannot be moved. In flats, it helps to know about lifts, parking and any rules from the management company. Our installations page lists every finish we lay.
If you live in a period house, our article on lime plaster and coving in Victorian homes around Birmingham covers repair and restoration. For entrances and landings, see Venetian plaster on hallways and stairs.
Yes. It is part of Birmingham, so our applicators travel out from our base each day and we can survey your rooms before pricing.
Breathable lime finishes are the natural choice. Limewash gives a soft, matt look beside oak and stone, while Venetian plaster or Marmorino gives more depth in a hall or living room.
Pick from our 48 house colours or give us any NCS reference. You approve the colour on a sample board before we order anything for your walls.
Usually, yes, if the skim is sound, dry and flat. We check that at the survey, and if any patches are loose or uneven we will say so before quoting.
