Zavoré provides Venetian plastering in Wakefield for townhouses, terraces, family homes and commercial interiors, with our own applicators travelling from Birmingham to lay the finish. Wakefield is a cathedral city with a Georgian core, a coal mining past and plenty of newer housing around it. Each of those eras puts a different wall behind your paint.
Wakefield grew prosperous as a trading town for wool and corn, and Georgian wealth left behind elegant brick townhouses around St John’s, which is a conservation area. The cathedral, the medieval Chantry Chapel on the bridge over the Calder, and the old Westgate streets give the centre its character, and a modern landmark, The Hepworth Wakefield gallery, stands on the river.
The coalfield shaped the rest of the district. Around Wakefield, towns such as Castleford, Normanton and Featherstone, and villages such as Crofton, grew with the pits and have terraced rows built for the mining families, followed by interwar council housing and postwar estates. Ossett and Horbury, to the west, have older stone and brick buildings, while Pontefract, with its castle ruins, is an old market town with a long history.
On the edges of the city, newer estates have been added, and larger detached houses cluster in the more rural villages. Many of these homes were built with plasterboard walls.
For a decorative finish, the difference between a Georgian townhouse and a 1930s council semi is considerable. The Georgian walls may carry old lime plaster that wants to breathe, while a postwar house may be perfectly flat and ready for a more polished look.

We start with photos and rough measurements, then we survey the walls. We check what they are made of, how flat and sound they are, and whether there are cracks, damp or movement. Old coal country houses can have settlement and patch repairs, and we will tell you plainly if anything needs fixing first.
Wakefield is a fair distance from Birmingham, so we plan larger jobs in blocks of days. The team stays and lays each coat in order, rather than going back and forth. We agree dates once you have approved the sample and price, and the plaster is tinted to your sample in Birmingham beforehand.
Georgian terraces in the centre have limited parking and often several floors, so mention stairs and access when you contact us. Our Venetian plaster installation page covers the whole sequence.
If your own decorator will apply the finish, we send the plaster tracked to your Wakefield address. Trade accounts and courses are open to plasterers and decorators, and designers and architects can use our specification page. See every area we cover too.
Yes. We would survey the walls first. Older plaster usually suits a lime finish like Marmorino, which is breathable, and we can also restore plaster cornice and coving.
Our own applicators do. Larger installations are planned in blocks of days, and dates are agreed once you approve the sample and the price.
It can be, if the walls are flat. Polished finishes show every dip, so we check them and level them first if they need it.
Yes. We tint it to your approved colour and deliver it tracked, with the base coats, wax and advice your decorator needs.
