Zavoré offers Venetian plastering in Truro, Cornwall, for townhouses, cottages, flats and commercial interiors. We are based in Birmingham, our own applicators travel to Cornwall to install, and every colour is tinted to your approved sample before it leaves us. Because Cornwall is far from our Birmingham base, we plan the job in blocks of days. The team stays through the work and lays each coat in order, so there is no travelling back and forth while a wall is part finished. Dates follow once the sample and price are signed off.
Truro is Cornwall's only city, and it grew rich on the county's tin mining. That wealth left a centre of fine Georgian townhouses, with Lemon Street and Walsingham Place among the best known, alongside Victorian terraces and the tall Gothic Revival cathedral that dominates the skyline. Much of the centre is a conservation area, and many buildings are listed.
Walls here are often thick and built of local stone, with slate roofs and lime mortar, and some are rendered over. Beyond the centre you find Victorian suburbs climbing the hillsides, riverside streets towards Malpas, and newer housing estates around the edge of the city. The Cornish climate is mild and damp, so we always look at moisture first.
Where a building is listed or in the conservation area, the rules about what you may alter are separate from anything we do. Check with the council before you plan work to the fabric. Decorative plaster over a sound existing wall is a different matter, and we are happy to talk it through.
Photos and rough measurements are the first step. They let us answer small questions and tell you whether a wall is likely to need skimming, stripping or a damp repair before decoration. Then we survey the room, looking at substrate, flatness, cracks, movement, access and how you use the space.
Once you have approved a sample and the price, we tint your plaster in Birmingham and agree the block of days. Each thin coat must dry before the next, so rooms should be empty of other trades by then, and a gentle heat helps a cold, damp room. Cathedral city streets can be narrow, so tell us early about parking, steps and any permit you need for unloading.

Marmorino is a good match, because it is lime based and breathable and suits tall rooms with sash windows. Limewash is a quieter alternative.
We can discuss decorative plaster over sound walls. Any alteration to a listed building needs the council's consent, which is a separate matter you should check first.
A lime finish suits solid stone walls because it breathes. We say plainly if a damp problem needs fixing first, since no finish will cure it.
