Lime Venetian plaster, Marmorino and limewash across Oxfordshire, tinted to your colour in Birmingham and laid by our own applicators.
Zavoré supplies and installs Venetian plastering in Oxfordshire, from city terraces in Oxford to stone cottages in the Cotswolds. We work with authentic Italian lime based Venetian plaster, Marmorino, limewash and other decorative finishes. Our base is in Birmingham, and our own applicators travel into the county to lay the work. To start, order a sample board or email photos of your walls and your postcode to sales@zavore.co.uk.
Oxfordshire is a big, varied county, so it helps to think of it as several different building traditions rather than one.
Oxford itself is built from honey coloured limestone in its colleges and older streets, with brick terraces and villas filling the neighbourhoods around the centre. Jericho and the streets off the Cowley Road have rows of Victorian terraces, North Oxford and Summertown have large Victorian and Edwardian houses, and Headington and Iffley mix villas with later suburban housing. Many of these rooms have high ceilings, original plaster mouldings and a long history of alterations and flat conversions.
West of the city, the Cotswold edge brings limestone villages and market towns such as Burford, Witney and Chipping Norton, with stone cottages, thick walls and stone slate or thatched roofs. Woodstock is home to Blenheim Palace. In the north, around Banbury, the local ironstone gives the buildings a richer, orange brown colour. In the south and the Vale, towns like Abingdon, Wantage and Didcot have a mix of old market town buildings, brick Victorian terraces and large modern developments. In the south east, Henley on Thames sits on the edge of the Chilterns.
That adds up to three kinds of wall. Solid stone and old brick need breathable lime. Flat, modern plasterboard in new estates and extensions suits polished plaster. And everything in between needs a survey.
If your house is listed or in a conservation area, check what consent you need before any change to historic plaster.
It starts with photos, then a survey of the walls. We check what they are made of, how flat and sound they are, cracks, damp, movement, how the room is used and how we get in and protect floors. If a wall needs skimming, stripping or a damp problem resolved first, we say so plainly.
Once you approve a sample and the price, we agree dates. The plaster is tinted to the sample before it leaves Birmingham, from 48 house colours or any NCS reference. For the more distant parts of the county the work is planned in blocks of days, with the team staying on the job and laying each coat in order. In the narrow streets of central Oxford, parking and loading are limited, so tell us early about permits and building access.
Our Venetian plaster installation page lists the finishes we lay.
Oxfordshire has many architects and interior designers working on period houses and barn conversions, and our specify page explains how we can support a specification. If you have your own decorator, we can send tinted materials tracked across the UK, and our courses in Birmingham teach the craft.

Limewash or Marmorino. Both are lime based and breathable, which suits thick stone walls better than an acrylic coating.
Yes. We survey the walls first, and Marmorino is often a good fit for solid brick rooms with high ceilings.
