Lime Venetian plaster, Marmorino and limewash for Chiltern cottages, Metroland houses and new builds, laid by applicators who travel from our Birmingham base.
Zavoré offers Venetian plastering in Buckinghamshire, from Chiltern cottages to new homes around Aylesbury and Milton Keynes. We are based in Birmingham, and our own applicators travel down to lay lime based Venetian plaster, Marmorino, limewash, tadelakt and microcement. A good first step is a sample board in the colour you have in mind, or a handful of photos of the rooms emailed to sales@zavore.co.uk.
Buckinghamshire sits a fair way south of our base, so we plan each installation as a run of consecutive days. The applicators stay with the job, and every coat goes on in its proper order.
The county changes character from south to north. In the Chilterns the old building material is flint with brick dressings under clay tile roofs, and places such as Chalfont St Giles and Old Amersham keep timber framed and Georgian fronted buildings along their streets. These are solid walls that have been patched and limewashed for generations, and they rarely run perfectly true.
Along the Metropolitan line, Amersham on the Hill and Chalfont St Peter grew between the wars into the commuter suburbs once sold as Metroland, with roomy detached houses, bay windows and generous stair halls that suit a feature finish.
High Wycombe, long known for chair and furniture making, has Victorian and Edwardian terraces climbing the valley sides. Marlow and Beaconsfield have handsome Georgian streets, and the county also holds great houses such as Waddesdon Manor and Stowe. In the north, Aylesbury, Buckingham and above all the new town of Milton Keynes have large areas of recent housing, where most internal walls are plasterboard.
So one county can give us a flint cottage with old lime plaster inside on one job and a brand new open plan kitchen on the next. We choose the system to suit the wall, not the postcode.
In larger period houses, decorative work such as cornice and coving or gilding can sit alongside a polished wall.
Send us photos, rough room sizes and your postcode first. Some questions can be settled from the pictures, and then we survey the walls in person, looking at the substrate, how flat it is, any cracks, damp or movement, how the room will be used, and how we get in and protect the house. In an old cottage, if damp needs sorting before any finish goes on, we will tell you so.
Once the sample and the price are agreed, we set the dates. The plaster is tinted in Birmingham to match the approved sample, so the colour is settled before anything is loaded. Because Buckinghamshire is further from our base, we book the work as a block of days and the team stays until the last coat is done. It helps if other trades have finished, new skim is dry and the house is kept warm, since cold, damp rooms slow drying.
Village lanes and new estates can both be tight for parking, so let us know early where a van can stop. Our installation page lists every finish we lay.
If you would rather a decorator you already know did the work, we sell the materials and send them by tracked delivery, tinted to your colour. Decorators wanting to learn the finish can join our Venetian plaster courses in Birmingham, and trade accounts are open to regular buyers. Interior designers specifying finishes for a Buckinghamshire house will find our specification page useful.

Yes. Our own applicators come from Birmingham, and on Buckinghamshire jobs we work in a block of days so the coats go on in order without breaks for travel.
A breathable lime finish such as limewash or Marmorino. Lime lets a solid wall breathe, whereas an acrylic look alike forms a film over it.
Yes, as long as the plasterboard joints are reinforced and the correct primer goes on first. Polished finishes show every dip, so flat walls matter.
