Venetian plastering in Kingston upon Thames

Italian lime Venetian plaster, Marmorino, concrete effect and microcement across the Royal Borough, coloured before it leaves Birmingham and installed by our own applicators.

Zavoré handles Venetian plastering in Kingston upon Thames from start to finish, supplying authentic Italian lime based Venetian plaster and installing it with our own applicators, sent out from Birmingham for each job. Alongside Venetian plaster we lay Marmorino, microcement, concrete effect and a broad range of other decorative surfaces. The easiest starting point is a sample board, or an email to sales@zavore.co.uk with a few pictures of the walls.

Kingston is well beyond a daily run from Birmingham, so the installation is planned as one unbroken block of days, with the applicators staying until the last coat is on.

Homes and buildings across the Royal Borough

Kingston grew as a market town beside the Thames, and the Royal Borough around it takes in several quite different neighbourhoods. The town centre mixes historic buildings around the Market Place with shops, restaurants, student accommodation for Kingston University and a growing number of riverside apartments.

Surbiton, just to the south, grew up with the railway in Victorian times and still has streets of large villas and semis, many now divided into flats, along with the well known Art Deco station. Towards Tolworth and New Malden the housing is largely interwar, with long roads of 1930s semis. On the higher ground at Coombe there are big detached houses in generous plots.

So a Kingston enquiry could be anything from a Victorian villa with solid walls and tall ceilings to a 1930s semi whose original plaster has been patched many times, or a new flat with plasterboard throughout. No two of those are prepared in quite the same way.

Which finishes suit Kingston homes

  • Marmorino for Surbiton villas and other solid walled Victorian houses, where a breathable lime finish respects the original construction.
  • Venetian plaster for the through lounge of a 1930s semi, once the walls are flattened, giving the room a depth that paint cannot.
  • Concrete effect for riverside apartments and town centre shops that want a clean, modern surface.
  • Microcement for kitchens and bathrooms, laid over a correctly prepared base and fully waterproofed wherever there is a shower.

Our colours page shows the 48 house shades. We can also match any NCS reference you already have in mind.

Getting a Kingston installation under way

Email photos with rough sizes and your postcode to begin. Small things can often be answered from the photos before anyone visits. For a full installation we come out to survey first, looking at the substrate, how flat and sound it is, any cracking, damp or movement, how the space is used, and what access and protection will be needed.

In a 1930s semi in particular, a polished finish will show every dip, so we may suggest skimming or levelling first, and we will tell you plainly if that is the case. Once you approve a sample and the price, we agree dates and tint your plaster to the approved colour in Birmingham before loading the van.

The town centre has limited parking and loading, and flats above shops often have narrow stairs, so mention access when you first get in touch. There is more on our Venetian plaster installation page.

Shops, restaurants and other commercial interiors in Kingston

Kingston town centre is busy with retail and hospitality. For a commercial interior, we can talk through finishes that suit heavy use and simple repair, and plan the work around opening hours where that is practical. Designers will find more on our specify page.

Questions about Venetian plastering in Kingston upon Thames

Can Venetian plaster go on the walls of a 1930s semi in Tolworth or New Malden?

Yes, as long as the walls are flat and sound. We check at the survey and tell you if skimming or levelling is needed first.

Which finish would you choose for a Victorian villa in Surbiton?

For solid walls we lean towards breathable lime finishes such as Marmorino or limewash. Acrylic look alikes form a film, which is less suited to an old wall.

Do you take on shop and restaurant interiors in Kingston town centre?

Yes. We survey the space, recommend a finish that suits how it is used, and agree dates once the sample and price are approved.

Who carries out the work in Kingston?

Our own applicators travel from Birmingham and stay for the planned block of days, laying each coat in sequence.
