Venetian plastering in Doncaster

Lime Venetian plaster, Marmorino and polished plaster, tinted to your colour in Birmingham and laid on Doncaster walls by our own applicators.

Zavoré provides Venetian plastering in Doncaster for Victorian and Edwardian houses, 1930s suburban semis, village homes and new developments. We are based in Birmingham, our own applicators travel to Doncaster to lay each finish, and the plaster is tinted to your approved sample before it leaves us. To start, order a sample board or email photos of your walls, with the postcode, to sales@zavore.co.uk.

Doncaster is well north of Birmingham, so we plan the work in blocks of days. The team stays on the job and lays each coat in order.

The homes and buildings we plaster in Doncaster

Doncaster grew as a railway town. The locomotive works, the Plant, shaped the streets of Victorian terraces and villas around the station, and the town sits on the old Great North Road, which is why it has coaching inns and a long market tradition. In the centre you can still see the Georgian Mansion House on the High Street and the large Victorian Gothic Minster, the Church of St George.

Beyond the centre the picture changes. Bessacarr, Wheatley and Balby have a lot of interwar and postwar houses, and the villages around the borough, such as Sprotbrough and Tickhill, have older stone and brick cottages and larger detached homes. To the north and west lie former colliery communities, with long rows of terraced housing built for miners, and to the south and east there are big newer estates and the Lakeside area.

That variety matters. A Victorian wall near the station is likely to be solid brick and a little uneven. A 1930s semi has often been replastered. A new estate home will have plasterboard with joints that must be reinforced. We choose a finish to suit each.

Finishes that suit Doncaster homes

  • Marmorino for Victorian and Edwardian villas, where solid brick and high ceilings reward a breathable lime finish.
  • Polished plaster for new builds and renovated semis with flat, sound walls, giving an open feel in living spaces and hallways.
  • Travertino for a stone like look in a hallway or fireplace wall, which suits the older stone cottages of Tickhill and Sprotbrough.
  • Limewash for bedrooms and stairwells in terraces and cottages, adding soft texture without shine.

If your home is a postwar or interwar house, microcement is a good option for a kitchen or bathroom refit, where durability matters.

How a Venetian plastering job in Doncaster runs

It starts with photos, then a survey of the substrate, flatness, cracks, damp and movement, how the room is used, and access and protection. We say plainly if a wall needs skimming, stripping or a damp problem fixing first.

When you approve a sample and the price, we agree dates. Your plaster is tinted in Birmingham to the approved sample, from 48 house colours or any NCS reference. Coats go on in thin layers with drying time between, so it helps if electrics and joinery are finished and a cold room can be warmed. Plasterboard walls need reinforced joints and the right primer, and our guide to Venetian plaster on plasterboard explains why.

Doncaster town centre has limited parking, so please tell us about permits and access early. Read about everything we lay on our installation page, or see every area we cover.

Questions about Venetian plastering in Doncaster

Do you travel to Doncaster for Venetian plastering?

Yes. Our own applicators travel from Birmingham, and the job is planned in blocks of days. Dates are agreed once the sample and price are signed off.

Can you plaster a 1930s semi in Doncaster?

Yes. We survey the walls first, because an older replastered surface may need levelling or skimming before a polished finish goes on.

What suits a Victorian terrace near the station?

A breathable lime finish such as Marmorino or limewash is best on solid brick. Acrylic imitations form a film and can trap moisture.

Can I buy the materials for my own decorator?

Yes. We tint the plaster to your chosen colour and send it tracked, with base coats and wax.

To discuss your walls, call 07592 929191, Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm, or email photos and your postcode to sales@zavore.co.uk. A sample board is the best way to begin choosing a colour.
