Lime Venetian plaster, Marmorino and limewash for Clapham homes, tinted to your approved sample and laid by applicators who travel from our Birmingham base.
If you are looking for Venetian plastering in Clapham, Zavoré supplies and lays authentic Italian lime based Venetian plaster, Marmorino, limewash, tadelakt and a wide range of other decorative finishes. We are based in Birmingham and our own applicators make the trip to London for each installation. Most people begin with a sample board, or by sending a handful of photos to sales@zavore.co.uk.
Jobs this far from Birmingham are booked as a continuous run of days. That way the applicators remain on site and every coat follows the last at the right moment.
Clapham grew up around its Common, and the oldest houses still face it. Georgian terraces and detached houses line parts of the Common’s edges and the streets of Clapham Old Town, a conservation area, close to Holy Trinity Church. These are brick houses, lime plastered inside when they were built, with sash windows and rooms built for proportion rather than open plan living.
Behind them spread the Victorian and Edwardian streets that most Clapham families know, including the terraces of Abbeville Village. Many have been extended at the back, opened up at ground level and given a loft room at the top, which often leaves one house with three kinds of wall in it. The original solid brick walls sit next to new plasterboard partitions and fresh skimmed extensions.
Plenty of the larger houses were divided into flats long ago. In a conversion, the hallway and stairs are often shared, and the flat itself may have walls that have been reskimmed several times.
Choosing between these often comes down to the wall itself. If an original Georgian wall is lime plastered, a breathable lime finish is the natural partner. An acrylic look alike would form a film over it instead.
The opening move is yours, with photos, approximate room sizes and a postcode. Small questions can usually be answered from the pictures. For a full installation we survey before giving a price, checking the substrate, its flatness, any cracking, damp or movement, the way the room is lived in, and the access and protection the job will call for.
We tell you straight when skimming, stripping or a damp repair has to come first. When the sample and the price are both signed off, dates are agreed and the plaster is tinted to your sample in Birmingham before it travels.
Clapham streets are mostly in controlled parking zones, so a visitor permit or a bay suspension may be needed for our van. If your flat shares a hallway with neighbours, we will want to plan protection for the common parts as well. Many Clapham houses still have cornices, ceiling roses and picture rails, though some were lost in earlier modernisation. We can supply and fit cornice and coving to restore a run that has gone, so the new finish sits under a proper period detail.

They do. The applicators are our own and come from Birmingham, staying on the job for a planned run of days once the sample and price are approved.
Where the original walls are lime plaster, we would suggest limewash or Marmorino, as both let the wall breathe. We confirm this after surveying the walls.
Often, yes. The extension and the old walls may need different preparation, but the same tinted plaster can carry across so the colour runs through the house.
Yes, with the agreement of whoever owns or manages the common parts. We plan protection and access around the other residents.
