Lime Venetian plaster, Marmorino and clay plaster for Cambridge homes old and new, tinted to your sample in Birmingham and laid by our own applicators.
Zavoré undertakes Venetian plastering in Cambridge for Victorian terraces, large Edwardian family houses and new homes on the city's growing edges. We are based in Birmingham, and our own applicators travel across to apply lime based Venetian plaster, Marmorino, limewash, clay plaster, tadelakt and microcement. To begin, order a sample board or send photos and your postcode to sales@zavore.co.uk.
Cambridge jobs are planned as a block of days, so our applicators stay through the job and lay each coat in turn without travelling back between them.
Beyond the colleges, much of Cambridge is built of pale gault brick, the yellowish white brick that gives the terraces around Mill Road and Romsey their soft colour. These Victorian streets were built tightly, many for railway workers, with narrow halls, small front rooms and solid walls that have seen plenty of alterations.
West of the river, Newnham and the streets off Grange Road and Madingley Road are lined with large late Victorian and Edwardian houses, many built for university families, with generous stairwells and big rooms. Chesterton and the De Freville area have similar villas on a slightly smaller scale.
The newest Cambridge is very different. Eddington, Trumpington Meadows, Great Kneighton and the apartment blocks near the station have brought a great many new homes, and the new towns of Cambourne and Northstowe sit just outside the city. Add the offices and laboratories of the Cambridge Science Park and the Biomedical Campus, and the range of walls in one city is wide.
For workplaces with reception areas and meeting rooms, concrete effect finishes give a clean, modern wall.
Photos of the walls, rough sizes and your postcode let us answer early questions. We then survey, looking at the substrate, how flat it is, cracks, damp, movement, how you use the room, and access and protection. If old walls need stripping or skimming before the finish, or a new build has board joints that need attention, we say so up front.
Dates are agreed after you sign off the sample and the price. Your plaster is tinted to that sample in Birmingham, and the job runs in one block. It helps if electrics, joinery and other trades are finished, new plaster has dried, and some heat can stay on, because cold, damp rooms slow the drying. Central Cambridge has tight residents parking, so let us know about permits or a space for unloading.
More detail is on our Venetian plaster installation page, and if you live out towards the Fens, see our Ely page.
We sell Venetian plaster and its base coats, waxes and tools with tracked delivery, tinted to your colour, so a decorator you already use can do the job. Decorators and plasterers can learn on our Birmingham courses, and trade accounts suit firms ordering regularly.

Yes. Our applicators travel from Birmingham, survey first, and agree dates once the sample and price are approved.
A breathable lime finish such as limewash or Marmorino, which suits solid walls. Acrylic look alikes form a film over the wall instead.
Yes, with the right preparation. Plasterboard joints are reinforced and primed, and the base coats make the wall flat enough to polish.
Not inside the shower. Tadelakt or microcement on a waterproofed wall is what we recommend there, and Venetian plaster can dress the rest of the room.
