Looking for Venetian plastering training in Inverness? The courses are taught at the Zavoré Academy in Birmingham, so this is training for people from Inverness and the Highlands who are ready to travel for a few days of hands on tuition.
It suits painters and decorators, plasterers and joiners who want a premium service to offer, career changers looking for a skilled craft, designers who want to specify with confidence, and homeowners who would like to understand the finish they are choosing.
Inverness and the wider Highlands have plenty of walls that suit real plaster, from stone built villas beside the River Ness to modern homes with flat, smooth walls.
Much of the older housing around Inverness is solid stone. Walls like that need to breathe, which is why lime based plasters and Marmorino are such a natural fit for period homes, farmhouses and cottages in the area. A decorator who understands how these materials behave can advise a homeowner properly instead of simply reaching for another coat of paint.
Newer houses and apartments are a different story. Their flat walls are ideal for polished plaster, which gives a soft, deep sheen. In bathrooms and shower areas, tadelakt and microcement are the finishes to know about.
The Highlands also draw visitors, and that means hotels, guest houses, lodges, restaurants and holiday lets that need walls with real character. Owners of those places often want something that feels special and lasts under heavy use. If you already work in decorating or plastering in the area, Venetian plaster is a way to move into that kind of work.
If you are new to Venetian plaster, start with the Beginner Course. If you already have the basics or work on site, the Advanced Course is the next step, and the 1 to 1 course is for anyone who wants a programme built around their own goals.
Every course runs from 10am to 5pm with no more than six students on the group courses. You can read the details of the Beginner Course, the Advanced Course and 1 to 1 Training, and see current dates on the training page. If dates are not set yet, you can register your interest there.
Every seat includes tuition from working applicators, all materials and tools, lunch and refreshments, your finished panels to take home, a Zavoré certificate and trade pricing on Zavoré materials afterwards.
Plan the trip as a short stay, not a day out. People reach Birmingham by train or by car, and because Birmingham is central in England it is a practical meeting point for students from across the UK.
A 3 or 4 day course means you will need somewhere to stay. Zavoré holds a partner rate at a hotel near the Academy, so quote Zavoré when you book. If you arrive by air or rail, airport or station pickup can be arranged with your booking, at a price that depends on where you arrive.
Coming from the Highlands, it is worth booking your seat first and then fitting your travel around the confirmed dates. A bench can be held with half the price and the rest paid on the day.
Once you are home, you can offer Venetian plaster as part of your own work. You leave with your finished panels for a portfolio, which gives you something real to show a client.
You also get trade pricing on Zavoré materials after the course, access to the private course group and a helpline for life. If you are stuck on a tricky wall, there is someone to ask.
If you would rather see what the finished result looks like first, read about Venetian plastering in Inverness, or browse the Zavoré shop for materials with tracked UK delivery.

The courses run at the Zavoré Academy in Birmingham, not in the Highlands. People from Inverness travel there for 3 or 4 days of training, and Zavoré can help with a hotel partner rate and pickup.
No. The Beginner Course needs no experience and covers theory, preparation, base coats, textures and finishes such as Marmorino and polished plaster.
A decorator who is new to plaster should begin with the Beginner Course. Once you have used the materials, the Advanced Course builds on it, and 1 to 1 Training suits anyone who wants a custom plan.
You take home your finished panels for a portfolio and a Zavoré certificate. You also keep trade pricing on materials and a place in the private course group with a helpline for life.
