Venetian Plastering Training for Exeter

Exeter decorators and plasterers looking for Venetian plastering training will find it at the Zavoré Academy in Birmingham. We do not teach in Devon, so this is a course you travel for, and the days away pay off in a skill that suits the old and new buildings of Exeter equally well.

It is written for decorators who paint period houses, plasterers moving into decorative work, student landlords and developers who want to understand finishes, and anyone in Devon planning a career change.

Where Venetian plaster fits in Exeter and Devon

Exeter is a cathedral city with Roman walls, and its centre was rebuilt after wartime bomb damage, so old and modern buildings sit close together. That variety creates variety in the work. Elegant Georgian terraces such as Southernhay and Barnfield Crescent are home to offices and houses where a lime based or polished finish suits the proportions of the rooms.

The Victorian terraces that spread out from the centre make up a huge share of Exeter housing. Plain plaster walls and high ceilings offer a good canvas for a feature wall, a hallway or a staircase in Marmorino. On the Quayside, historic warehouses have become bars, restaurants and offices, where metallic plaster and artificial rock can give a venue its identity.

Out in Devon, many villages are full of cob cottages with thatch. Cob walls are earth based and need breathable materials, which is exactly the principle behind lime plaster. A decorator who understands that will avoid the damp problems caused by sealed finishes.

The University of Exeter and a steady flow of new housing also mean flats, student accommodation and developments, where polished plaster and microcement give flat modern walls and bathrooms a more expensive look.

Travelling from Exeter to Birmingham

Birmingham is in the middle of England, so students from Exeter come by train or by car. Whichever way you travel, a 3 or 4 day course means thinking about where you will sleep, and starting each morning refreshed for the 10am start.

Zavoré holds a partner rate at a hotel near the Academy; just quote Zavoré when you book. If you would like to be collected from your arrival station or airport, ask us to add pickup to your booking, which is priced by arrival point. Students come from all over the UK and abroad, so travelling is part of the experience.

Using Venetian plaster back in Exeter

Back in Devon you can order Zavoré materials at trade pricing, show your finished panels to customers, and call on the private group and helpline when a job raises questions. The skill sits well beside existing painting and restoration work, adding a premium option to your quotes.

Questions about Venetian plastering training for Exeter

Is Venetian plastering training available in Exeter or Devon?

The courses are taught at our training centres in Birmingham, London and Manchester. People from Exeter and across Devon travel to the one that suits them for the Beginner, Advanced or 1 to 1 course.

Can Venetian plaster go on cob walls?

Cob needs breathable materials, and lime is the traditional match, so a sealed or impermeable finish is usually a poor idea. The right system depends on the wall, which is why understanding the materials matters before you quote.

I already work with plaster on site. Where do I start?

The Advanced Course was designed for people from site as well as Beginner graduates, so you can skip straight to it. If you want to focus on one finish, 1 to 1 training is the alternative.

How much does the Beginner Course cost for someone from Exeter?

The Beginner Course is £750 per person for 3 days. You can hold a bench with half the price and pay the remainder on the day.

Book by phone on 07592 929191 or by email at sales@zavore.co.uk. Half the price holds a bench, with the rest due on the day, and you can also book online and pay in full via the training page.
