Short answer. Polished plaster works well in Kent homes on living room feature walls, chimney breasts, stair walls and kitchen walls away from the hob, while microcement suits bathrooms and garden room floors. Zavoré tints the plaster to your colour in Birmingham, ships it tracked, and sends its own applicators to Kent for a planned block of days.
For every decorative finish we install in Kent, from Venetian plaster to limewash, gilding and murals, see our decorative finishes specialist in Kent page.
Would you rather have it done for you? Our own applicators provide Venetian plaster installation across the UK, including Venetian plastering in Kent.
Kent has a wide mix of housing. There are newer estates and family homes around its growing towns, Victorian terraces in the older town centres, and seaside houses along the coast. Many have been extended at the back, given a garden room, or opened up into one large kitchen and family space.
Polished plaster, also called Grassello, is an Italian plaster made from aged lime putty. It is trowelled on in very thin layers and burnished, which means pressed hard with a steel trowel until it turns smooth and glassy. A coat of wax finishes it. The result looks like polished marble and feels cool and smooth.
Polished plaster is not the only option. Marmorino, from the same family of Italian lime plasters, contains marble dust and stays more matt, which some people prefer in bedrooms and quieter rooms. Many homes use both, with a polished wall in one room and Marmorino in the rest.
Kent is a long way from our Birmingham studio, so we plan carefully to keep the time on site efficient. First, we settle colours using sample boards trowelled in your shortlist. Then we confirm areas from photos, drawings or a visit. The plaster is tinted, so every tub matches, and it goes out tracked.
Our applicators then travel down and work through a block of days. To keep that block running smoothly.
