Lime Venetian plaster, Marmorino and limewash for Chesterfield homes, tinted in Birmingham and laid by our own applicators.
Zavoré supplies and installs Venetian plastering in Chesterfield for homes, flats and businesses in the town and the villages towards the Peak District. We are based in Birmingham, our own applicators travel to lay each finish, and the plaster is tinted to the colour you approve. The easiest way to start is a sample board, or send photos of your walls and your postcode to sales@zavore.co.uk.
Chesterfield sits where the coalfield meets the hills, and its buildings change from brick to stone within a few minutes.
The town is known for the twisted spire of the parish church of St Mary and All Saints, and for its large open air market, which sits in front of a market hall. The centre has Georgian and Victorian buildings, the old Shambles market area, and conservation area character around the church.
Chesterfield grew on coal, iron and engineering, and George Stephenson spent his final years nearby. The streets built for mining and works families, in areas such as Hasland, Whittington Moor and Newbold, are mostly late Victorian and Edwardian brick terraces. Solid walls, narrow rooms and decades of repainting are common.
To the west the land climbs towards the Peak District. Houses, cottages and farm buildings there, including in villages such as Holymoorside, are often built of local stone, with thick walls and deep window reveals. Between and beyond are interwar and postwar estates and newer developments around the edge of the town.
These are different walls. Brick and lime plaster in the terraces should breathe. Stone cottages are thick and sometimes damp, and a lime finish suits them. Modern estates have plasterboard.
We begin with photos, rough measurements and the postcode, then survey the walls before pricing. We check what they are made of, how flat and sound they are, cracks, damp and movement, how the rooms are used, access and what needs protecting. If a wall needs skimming, stripping or damp dealt with first, we say so plainly.
When the sample and price are signed off, we agree dates. Because the job is away from Birmingham, we plan it in blocks of days so the applicators stay on site and lay each coat in order. The plaster is tinted to your approved sample before it leaves Birmingham, from 48 house colours or any NCS reference.
In a cold stone house, keep the heating gently on while the coats dry. Our Venetian plaster installation page explains the finishes we lay, and our guide on drying and curing explains why time between coats matters.
If you already have a decorator, we tint the plaster to your colour and send it tracked, with base coats, wax and tools. For decorators who want to learn the finish, our courses run in Birmingham, and trade accounts help with repeat orders. See every area we cover too.
Limewash or Marmorino, because lime is breathable and suits thick stone walls. Acrylic look alikes form a film that can trap moisture.
Yes. Our own applicators travel from Birmingham to Chesterfield and the villages around it, and we survey before quoting.
It can slow drying, because cold, damp rooms dry slowly. We plan for it, and keeping the heating gently on during the job helps.
