A three day 1 to 1 microcement course at our training centres in Birmingham, London and Manchester. Learn why seamless work is won or lost at the substrate, then trowel, finish and seal it with working applicators.
The microcement course is a three day course taught at our training centres in Birmingham (the Zavoré Academy), London and Manchester by working applicators who lay seamless surfaces for clients. It suits people who want to offer floors, walls, bathrooms and worktops with no grout lines and no joints, and who understand that the money in this work is made or lost in the preparation. Decorators, plasterers, builders, designers and homeowners all attend.
Microcement is cement, fine aggregate, polymer and pigment, trowelled in thin layers over a primed and reinforced base and then sealed. A surface is only as good as its primer, its mesh and its sealer, and a failure almost always sits in one of those three. So the course runs in the order a real job runs, and begins with what is underneath.
You also learn the lime built alternatives, beton stucco for walls and pastellone for floors and walls, and why a lime finish can be reworked and re waxed in place while a sealed cement surface needs a visible patch.
Microcement is learned on 1 to 1 Training, for 3 days, 10am to 5pm, at £1,500 and open to any level. Nothing about it is a fixed syllabus. If you fit bathrooms and want wet room walls, we build the days around that. If you want to lay a hall floor, the time goes to the base and the whole floor being laid wet in one go.
Book online, or hold the bench with half (£750) by phone on 07592 929191 or by email to sales@zavore.co.uk, and pay the balance on the day. Dates are agreed with you after booking and the Academy dates are shown on the training page. Firms who want to train two or three people together can ask us about private group training.
The microcement course runs at our three training centres, in Birmingham, London and Manchester, at the same price. Microcement is won or lost in the preparation, and that is where the course starts, at whichever centre you choose. Choose London if you live in London or the South East, Manchester if you are in the North West, and Birmingham if you are in the Midlands, or pick the centre that is easiest for you to reach. You choose the centre and your dates when you book, by phone on 07592 929191 or by email to sales@zavore.co.uk.
If you are travelling to Birmingham, there is a partner hotel rate near the Zavoré Academy (quote Zavoré when you book), and pickups can be arranged for a price that depends on where you arrive.
When your first job comes along, the helpline is the useful part, since every substrate is different. Lime built finishes, primers and sealers are available through the shop, and the trade page explains how trade pricing works.
Bathroom fitters and builders gain a seamless option that avoids tiling. Plasterers already know how a base behaves and how to trowel thin. Decorators can add a premium service. Designers learn what to specify and what to ask for in the preparation, and homeowners planning a floor or bathroom can see what a proper job involves before they hire anyone.
The finish itself is described on the microcement page. If you would rather have a floor or bathroom laid for you, our own artisans carry out microcement installation across the UK.
If seamless work has you thinking about other mineral finishes, these courses are taught at the same three training centres and run the same way.
Yes. The microcement course runs at our training centres in Birmingham (the Zavoré Academy), London and Manchester, at the same price. London suits London and the South East, Manchester suits the North West, and Birmingham suits the Midlands. You choose the centre and your dates when you book. There is a partner hotel rate near the Birmingham Academy if you need to stay, and pickups can be arranged there.
Yes, if that is what you want to learn. The course is shaped around you, so you can focus on floors, on walls, or on bathrooms. Floors are the least forgiving, and a good part of the time goes on the base, because a floor that moves will crack a rigid surface however well it is laid.
Zavoré installs microcement. The materials it sells are the lime built seamless finishes, pastellone and beton stucco, which give the same joint free look. Students get trade pricing on Zavoré materials after the course, and we are happy to talk through which system suits which job.
Three days, 10am to 5pm, taught 1 to 1. Each day is planned around your own panels, so you see the preparation, the primer and mesh, the thin trowelled coats and the sealing in sequence, with time to repeat the steps you find hardest.
