Clients often expect a plasterer with a radio and a dust sheet. What arrives is closer to a small atelier. Here is what a professional venetian plaster installation actually involves, so you know what you are paying for and what to expect week by week.
Someone measures, checks the substrate, notes damp history, light direction and junctions, and asks how the room is used. This is where the finish is chosen honestly: a soft matte marmorino for a bedroom wall behaves differently from a burnished grassello beside a busy staircase. The survey is why the quote can be trusted.
Your finish, your colour, made by hand and left with you to live with for a few days. Morning light and lamplight will disagree about the same wall; the board lets you hear both opinions before committing.
The least glamorous days matter most. Masking, sound-checking the wall, filling, sealing and priming with the correct key for the system. Rushing this stage is how finishes fail later; we do not rush it.
Base coats build the body, finish coats build the depth, and each must dry properly before the next. Depending on the finish there may be two coats or several, then the burnish under a clean trowel, and wax or sealer where the room demands protection. You will see the wall change character daily.
